The teaching contents include lectures on Marxist news thoughts, basic courses of world news history, topics on Marx and Engels' news laws, standardized news writing, comments on communication exercises, news theory, communication theory, Chinese and foreign news history, news history theory, and master's thesis writing.

Starting from 1998, special courses will be offered for doctoral students. The main topics are the evolution of Marxist journalism, public opinion, critical school of communication, and the frontier of journalism and communication research.

Main academic achievements: 1979 has published more than 8 million words, including 4 independent works, more than 200 papers and more than 900 general articles. His representative works include Theory of Spiritual Communication (1993), Public Opinion (1999), History of World News Communication (2nd edition, 2007), Marxist News Ideology (2006) and Ten Lectures on News Theory (2008). According to the statistics of CNKI (China Journal Network)1989-201year, in the past 23 years, Chen Lidan ranked first in the field of news communication in Chinese mainland (1000 and 332 1 respectively).
