Part I: Listening: * * * 20 questions, and the examination time is 20 minutes. This part consists of two sections: Section A contains 10 questions, and each question contains a group of dialogues, followed by a question. Part B has 10 questions, which are arranged after several listening materials. There are two or four questions after each article, and each topic is regarded as a question.
There is a gap of about 15 seconds after each question in the listening section. Ask candidates to choose the best answer from the four options given in the test paper. The recording speed is about 120 words per minute. Read it again.
The principle of material selection is:
1, this part is divided into ordinary dialogues in daily life, and the sentence structure and content are not too complicated;
2. Listening materials are stories, speeches and narratives with familiar themes and uncomplicated plots;
3. The words used are not beyond the vocabulary level 4 of the syllabus. The purpose of listening comprehension is to test students' ability to obtain oral information.
Part II: Reading Comprehension: * * 20 questions, and the examination time is 35 minutes.
Candidates are required to read several short essays, with a total reading of no more than 1000 words. There are several questions at the end of each composition. Candidates should choose the best answer from the four options in each question according to the content of the article.
The principle of material selection is:
1, covering a wide range of topics, including biographies, society, culture, daily knowledge and popular science knowledge. , but the background knowledge involved should be understood by students;
2. Various genres, including narrative, expository, argumentative, etc.
3. The language difficulty of the article is moderate, and you can't guess the key words that affect your understanding. If it is beyond the scope of the syllabus vocabulary level 4, indicate the meaning in Chinese.
The reading comprehension section mainly tests the following abilities:
1, to master the main idea of the materials read;
2. Understand the facts and details that explain the main idea and general idea;
3, not only understand the literal meaning, but also make certain judgments and inferences based on the materials read;
4. Understand the logical relationship between the meaning of a single sentence and the context.
The purpose of reading comprehension is to test students' ability to obtain information through reading, which requires both accuracy and speed.
Part III: Vocabulary and Structure: * * 30 questions, and the examination time is 20 minutes. In the topic, 40% is the usage of words and phrases, and 60% is the grammatical structure. Candidates are required to choose the best answer from the four options of each question.
The purpose of the word usage and grammatical structure section is to test students' ability to use words, phrases and grammatical structures. The scope of the examination includes all the contents of the vocabulary and grammar structure table of the syllabus from Grade 1 to Grade 4.
The fourth part: cloze: * * 20 questions, examination time 15 minutes. A familiar and moderately difficult essay (about 200 words) has 20 spaces, each space is a question, and each question has four options. Candidates are required to choose the best answer on the basis of a comprehensive understanding of the content and restore the meaning and structure of the essay. Fill-in-the-blank words include structural words and translated words.
The purpose of cloze is to test students' comprehensive ability to use language.
Part V: Writing: * * *1topic, the examination time is 30 minutes. Candidates are required to write an essay of 100- 120 words. The test paper may give a topic, or specify a situation, or ask for a picture composition, or ask for a continuation of the first sentence of a paragraph; Or give key words and ask for short passages. It is required to be able to express ideas correctly, with coherent meaning and no major grammatical errors. Writing content includes daily life and common sense.
The purpose of the thesis writing part is to test the students' initial ability to express their thoughts in written English.
Experts talk about the new CET-4 exam strategy.
On June 17, the old Grade 4 was tested, and the new Grade 4 appeared black and pink on the 24th. According to incomplete statistics, among thousands of students who took the CET-4 this year, only more than 80 students applied for the new CET-4, all because of the difficulty and strangeness of the new CET-4.
Starting from next year, all candidates will take the new CET-4. Where is the change in the new level 4? How to prepare for the exam? In this issue, I invited Liao Huaibao, an expert from the Only level and level 6 expert group, to talk about the new level 4 coping strategy.
Increased difficulty-the biggest change in listening and reading.
From the assessment direction, the new CET-4 pays more attention to the examination of candidates' practical English application ability, which is embodied in the change of questions. The new CET-4 is divided into four parts: listening, reading, comprehensive application and writing. The biggest changes are the listening part and reading part. On the basis of the original short dialogue, short essay and compound dictation, the listening part of the new Band 4 has added a long dialogue part. The proportion of listening comprehension has increased from 20% to 35%. There are two main differences between the old and new questions. First, the number of questions has increased: the old questions have only two parts, and the new questions have three parts; Second, it is more difficult: the dialogue part of the new question type is changed from the original 10 short dialogue to 8 short dialogues and 2 long dialogues.
As far as China students' relatively strong reading is concerned, candidates are good at reading relatively short articles for a relatively long time, which is precisely the way of investigation of Lao Si. Adding fast reading to the new CET-4 reading is naturally a big challenge for candidates. Although the proportion of reading has dropped from 40% to 35%, the number of questions has increased and the difficulty has increased accordingly. In the old Grade 4, reading only took multiple-choice questions, but in the new Grade 4, two types of questions will be added: fast reading and word filling. Choosing words to fill in the blanks is a strange question for the majority of China candidates, which puts higher demands on the candidates.
The comprehensive application part accounts for 15%, and basically follows some old questions: cloze or error correction, short answer questions or Chinese-English translation. The writing part is basically unchanged, accounting for 15%, and it is still to write an argumentative or practical article. The number of questions in the new CET-4 test has greatly increased, and the time is only 5 minutes longer than that in the old test, so the first problem faced by candidates is time. In the process of preparing for the exam, candidates should allocate the time required for each question reasonably according to the characteristics of the questions and their own level.
In short, new questions are generally not difficult. The key is to understand the characteristics of this type of question and adjust the corresponding methods and time.
A brand-new grading system-scientifically reflecting the ability of listening, vocabulary, reading and writing.
It should be noted that in the new scoring system of 7 10, the score not only reflects the relative ranking of students, but also expresses the relative ranking of students in various projects (writing, reading, listening, vocabulary), which is the scientific point of the reform of scoring questions before the question reform. In the future, employers can clearly understand all aspects of students' English ability through CET-4 and CET-6 transcripts. Therefore, let's not discuss whether the certificate of CET-4 and CET-6 is related to the degree certificate, because whether it is related or not, the report card of CET-4 and CET-6 directly reflects your English language ability. Moreover, before you take other exams (such as PETS, TOEFL, IELTS, GRE, TOEIC, Bos, etc.) that can reflect your English language ability. ), these exams are far more difficult than CET-4.
When you're strong, you're strong-the solution to the listening part
-Short dialogue segment
Short conversations have always been a relatively stable scoring point for students.
In the latest new level 4, the number of short dialogue topics has been reduced from 10 to 8. However, the fact that short dialogue is the most basic typed listening topic has not changed. 1 1, 12, 18 are action behavior questions; Question 14 is a traditional question about the relationship between people, while question 16 is a more traditional question about the place of dialogue. Most problems can be solved according to the routine of previous problems. For example, action topics focus on predicates after modal verbs, interpersonal topics focus on professional characteristics vocabulary, and place topics grasp the core place vocabulary and so on. Therefore, the short dialogue part is still the insurance item for candidates to get points.
-Long dialogue segment
Long dialogue is the latest face in the CET-4 topic.
The first four questions are slightly longer dialogues, and the last three questions are based on slightly shorter dialogues, which can be regarded as a combination of short dialogues and listening passages. Because the performance of long dialogue in CET-4 is that the problem setting of listening passage is expressed in the form of short dialogue. When listening to a long conversation, first of all, information positioning is very important. In the process of dialogue, the opening pleasantries and farewell concluding remarks at the end of greetings rarely come up, but the middle part of the dialogue is often the focus; Secondly, while listening and watching, try to determine which option can match to the greatest extent, which is the key to listening to short passages and also applies to long dialogues; Finally, the source of long conversations is mostly TOEFL listening, so high-frequency scenes such as campus, job hunting, renting houses and libraries need attention.
-Listening section
Listening passage is a traditional topic, and there are only two styles: story and expository. Explanatory essays include simple expository essays, scientific expository essays and biographies. As a form of common questions, it has obvious general problem-solving skills like small dialogues. First, quickly identify the question type from the options. If it is a story, the ending and dialogue need to be very careful. If it is explanatory text, there should be problems at the beginning and end. Second, keep absolute attention all the time. The accurate answers in most questions are actually the choices that can match the original listening text to the greatest extent. Never give up because you don't understand words and sentences, in fact, those are illusions; Third, pay attention to the common test sites of short essays, such as the first and last sentences, turning relationships, logical relationships, superlatives, etc. , has proved to be almost never failed.
-Compound dictation
Dictation of compound words has always been a headache for candidates. Because there is no choice at all, you need to write all the answers with real knives and guns. However, in the new CET-4, compound dictation will always exist because it appears as a fixed pattern. 10 problem, the first seven spaces need to write seven words. In fact, most of these words are understandable but easy to make mistakes. So the usual basic skills are very important. As for the last three spaces with high scores, that is, the dictation of long and difficult sentences, it is suggested to use "write down the main points of the topic according to your own words" instead of "write down completely according to what you hear" as the latter is too difficult and unnecessary.
Kill two birds with one stone, new strategy
Over the years, CET-4 has become the target of public criticism, and the teachers who gave CET-4 questions have also been criticized, so much so that a madman who is famous in the foreign language field in China shouted "CET-4 and CET-6 are a fart!" There are also many students who hate Band 4. If the fourth level has spirit, it will definitely shout "I am more wronged than Dou E!" "No one is perfect without gold", and CET-4 has its shortcomings, but after a calm analysis, CET-4 is indeed a "good comrade", at least "seven points for work and three points for passing".
The first move, look at listening. The small dialogue in CET-4 shows a lot of practical scenes, and the language is very authentic. If you can read, imitate and recite all the conversations in the CET-4 over the years, your oral English will be very smooth. If your middle school foundation is not very solid, you can use it to further learn basic vocabulary and grammar. In addition, in the listening part, there are several new words, whether they are small conversations or jokes. If you can understand these words at once, you will naturally see them when you read them. These words will become the "direct troops" in your vocabulary army. Listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation can be scheduled at any time, and then these words are used as basic vocabulary, through root, affix and translation. It can be seen that the unsightly CET-4 listening is actually a "whole body treasure". Moreover, the written answer to the listening questions is the simplest part of the CET-4. Take this as a breakthrough, read it first, understand every word carefully, read it several times, then dictate sentence by sentence, find out what you don't understand and the words you are not sure about when writing, look it up in the dictionary, ask the teacher more questions, and then follow the tape until you recite them. Such two sets of questions will make a qualitative leap in listening. Vocabulary will soar by hundreds. Moreover, reciting more sentences and essays is also of great benefit to the composition.
The second trick is dictation and listening. At this point, don't read the written answer yet. You should dictate directly sentence by sentence. If you don't understand and can't write, just listen to it several times, and then look it up in the dictionary according to the phonetic symbols. You can also look at the options and find a clue. If you can't write it, put it away first, but leave a place and make a mark. After dictation of a set of questions, check the answers again. It is best to mark the wrong and unwritten parts with a pen of another color. Then analyze the reasons for not dictating or making mistakes in dictation, whether it is continuous reading, weak reading, aphonia, confusion or the difference between English sound and American sound, and then repeat it. Dictation records must not be thrown away, it not only engraves every footprint on your CET-4 road, but also is a good material for your future review. If you study ten sets of questions carefully, you can get 18 points in listening.
The third trick is to write a composition. "Read 300 Tang poems by heart, and you can recite them even if you can't write them" and "copy the articles through the ages". Look for the model essay attached to each set of CET-4 questions. On the basis of understanding the structure of the article, every word and sentence must be memorized. It can further consolidate basic grammar and expand vocabulary. After a dozen articles, practice by yourself, try to use the words and sentences you have memorized, and then check the mistakes. Practice a few more articles, and you will think like a spring when you take the exam. In ten minutes, a good work will stand out. After the above two actions, you can get 30 points in listening and composition, and you can successfully pass Band 4.
The fourth measure is reading. You don't need to be quick. You know, if you want to read ten lines at a time, you must read ten lines first. Reading should be like listening, abstracting sentence by sentence, understanding every word, and even finding out the misprints, and then familiarizing yourself with it, and it is better to recite a few articles. In this process, you can greatly improve your vocabulary, and because the words you recite have a specific context, you are impressed. Besides, you can practice a higher grammar skill. Although the sentences in reading are very long, careful analysis shows that there are only a few clauses, several non-predicate verbs and several prepositional phrases more than the middle school English text. In this way, I carefully dug out 50 CET-4 reading articles and got more than 30 points in reading, not to mention. In addition, the vocabulary will increase by more than 1000.
The fifth measure is to filter the radio. Do it first, find out the mistakes and uncertainties, understand one question after another, read one sentence after another, treat the new words as the same, put them in the vocabulary book immediately, and recruit them into the account book.
The above five moves must not be reversed, let alone cut corners. Otherwise, if you don't listen to the old saying, you will definitely suffer. If time doesn't allow, you can skip the fifth move. Before taking the CET-4 exam, you can quickly scan the words in CET-4, pick out those you don't know and read them several times.
