As a scholar, Professor Lin Geng's research mainly involves Tang poetry, Chuci, literature history and so on, showing the unique characteristics of poets and scholars. He combined the creation of new poetry with the study of Tang poetry perfectly. In the study of Tang poetry, the most famous argument he put forward was "the weather of the prosperous Tang Dynasty".
