Recently, Jia Yixia's research group of School of Chemical Engineering, Zhejiang University of Technology has made important progress in the study of asymmetric Friedel-Crafts reaction. Using gold trichloride/chiral phosphoric acid composite catalyst, the cyclization/alkylation reaction of o-nitrophenylaceyne and indole was efficiently connected in series, and indole ketone compounds with 2- position quaternary carbon chiral center were constructed with high selectivity, which provided a fast and effective method for synthesizing important natural products and bioactive molecules containing such structures.
