Literature collection of Longmen Grottoes
Longmen Grottoes was excavated when Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty moved to Luoyang (AD 493), and it was built intermittently for more than 500 years in the Western Wei, Eastern Wei, Northern Qi, Sui, Tang, Five Dynasties, Song and Ming Dynasties. It is planned to close the scenic spot in April 2003, when there will be a tourist scene integrating grottoes, temples and cemeteries. At that time, Chinese and foreign guests could stroll along the rippling banks of the Yi River with the bells of Xiangshan Temple, stop in front of the Buddhist shrine and enjoy many landscapes of Longmen.
