Male, 199 1 graduated from the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of St Andrews, UK, with a doctorate. 1993- 1995, postdoctoral research, Laser Photoelectricity Center, Laval University, Canada. Before returning to China in 2002, he worked in the University of St Andrews in the UK, the University of Toronto in Canada, Quantronix Company in the US, Institute of Integrated Manufacturing Technology of National Research Institute of Canada, and JDS-Uniphase Company in Canada for more than ten years. Long-term engaged in laser and photonics frontier research and related technology development. Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the First Editorial Board of Optics and Photonics Series of Science Press, Standing Committee Member of Optoelectronic Technology Committee of China Aerospace Society, Editorial Board of Infrared and Laser Engineering magazine. He used to be deputy director of the Institute of Modern Optics of Nankai University and director of the Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Information Science and Technology of the Ministry of Education. During my teaching in Nankai, I offered the course "Fundamentals of Ultrafast Laser Optics" (1) to graduate students, which was taught in English. He helped to initiate the establishment of "American Optical Society-Nankai Student Branch" 2, and has been its consultant. Two graduate students won the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award of Nankai University and the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award of Tianjin (and were nominated as 100 National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation). 20 13 graduate students won the "optical &; Amp Photonics News Magazine's 8th "Post-Image Photography Competition" won the first prize 3 and the honorary prize 4.
