The adoption of high chromium casting rolls-high chromium cast iron and high chromium steel casting rolls is a great innovation in roll manufacturing technology in recent years after high alloy infinitely chilled cast iron rolls and semi-steel rolls for composite casting. The new high chromium steel composite casting roll is replacing ultra-high carbon cast steel roll, needle-like ductile iron roll and infinite chilled cast iron roll with composite casting.
High chromium steel roll has the following characteristics:
(1) Good hardening depth. The effective diameter can be increased to more than 100 mm, and the radial hardness of the roller outer layer is stable at HV760-780.
(2) Good thermal hardness. When the surface is heated to 450℃, the hardness of the roll body does not decrease and it has good tempering resistance, so the tempering temperature of high chromium steel is 400℃-500℃. Tempering at high temperature, in order to activate austenite, it is transformed into secondary martensite after cooling. In order to eliminate retained austenite most effectively, multiple tempering can be carried out. Tempering also has secondary hardening effect. The residual content of high-specification steel roll containing 10% chromium is 3%-4%, while that of forged steel roll is 7%- 10%.
(3) The roll body of high chromium steel has high hardness and is not easy to wear, and the hardness of the roll body comprehensively reflects the elasticity, plasticity and stress state of the material. The ex-factory hardness of high chromium steel rough rolling work roll is HS73-83, and that of cold rolling work roll is HS90 or above. After shot peening, it is easy to get a high-hairiness roll surface with good anti-skid performance.
(4) After shot peening, the roller surface with high roughness can be easily obtained, and it has good anti-skid performance.
(5) The cold water condition of high chromium steel roll is not as harsh as that of high chromium cast iron roll.
(6) When using high-chromium steel roll, the roughness of high-chromium steel roll keeps good due to the high chromium content, the rolling capacity reaches 1000t/h, and the roughness can still be kept above 0.2μm'. The surface roughness of the roller is large, so it can prevent accidental sliding.
