[Abstract] Values are people's deepest beliefs, the criteria for judging right and wrong, and the criteria for action. Whether a country or society has widely recognized core values directly affects the cohesion and influence of a country. This paper first expounds the meaning of socialist core values, then puts forward the importance of college students practicing socialist core values, and finally puts forward that college students should actively practice socialist core values.

The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China summarized the socialist core values as "prosperity, democracy, civilization, harmony", "freedom, equality, justice, rule of law" and "patriotism, dedication, honesty and friendliness". 24 words, every word, on the floor. College students are builders and successors of socialist modernization, so they should study and practice the socialist core value system. In the face of great social changes, increasingly diversified social culture and diversified values of college students, I think college students can practice the socialist core value system from the following aspects:

First, seriously study and profoundly understand the connotation and spiritual essence of the socialist core value system. Without in-depth study and understanding of the connotation of the socialist core value system and a solid theoretical foundation, how can we effectively practice and steadily promote the socialist core value system in practice? Therefore, we must first clearly put forward the basic content of the socialist core value system, the most important of which includes the following aspects:

(1) Adhere to the guiding ideology of Marxism; Adhere to the guiding ideology of Marxism and arm yourself with the latest theoretical achievements of Marxism in China. The guiding ideology of Marxism is the soul of the socialist core value system and the fundamental guiding ideology for the construction of the party and the country. In the process of college students' growth, Marxism provides us with a correct world outlook and methodology, which is a powerful ideological weapon for college students to understand the law of social development and grasp the future direction. Only by using Marxist standpoint, viewpoint and method can we correctly understand the general trend of economic and social development and the mainstream and tributary of social ideology, and can we see the essence and clear the direction in the complicated social phenomena. At present, it is especially necessary to strengthen college students' theoretical armed work, vigorously carry out theoretical study and education activities, seriously study and deeply understand Socialism with Chinese characteristics's theoretical system, such as Deng Xiaoping Theory, Theory of Three Represents and Scientific Outlook on Development, so that they can correctly understand the social development trend and scientifically position their lives in their studies.

(2) Adhere to the ideal of Socialism with Chinese characteristics; Socialism with Chinese characteristics's ideal is the theme of the socialist core value system. Ideals and beliefs are the essence of values, contain people's yearning and pursuit for the future, have strong appeal and cohesion, and are the soul of a nation and a society. I

Only by establishing Socialism with Chinese characteristics's ideal can we effectively construct the socialist core value system and play its role as the soul of the socialist system and the cornerstone of socialist consciousness construction. As a college student, we should start from ourselves, study hard scientific and cultural knowledge, and change our current situation of underdeveloped economy, backward technology and low living standard. We should grasp the relationship between social ideal and personal ideal, establish correct personal ideal, and contribute and promote social ideal with personal ideal. At the same time, we should not only be strict with ourselves, but also drive our classmates and friends around us to strengthen this great ideal.

(3) Adhere to the national spirit with patriotism as the core and the spirit of the times with reform and innovation as the core; Cultivating and carrying forward the national spirit and the spirit of the times is the essence of the socialist core value system. The national spirit with patriotism as the core is the spiritual pillar for our Chinese nation to gain independence and win dignity; The spirit of the times with reform and innovation as the core is the source of strength for socialist China to move towards prosperity, civilization and harmony. Cultivating and carrying forward the spirit of the times with reform and innovation as the core is to tap the innovative spirit and potential of college students. At the same time, college students should take the initiative to understand social trends and international news, understand the direction of social development, actively think about innovation, put forward their own views on social phenomena, and put forward their own valuable opinions and suggestions. (4) Adhering to the socialist concept of honor and disgrace is the foundation of the socialist core value system. Only by knowing Rong Ming's shame and distinguishing between good and evil, beauty and ugliness can a person form a correct value judgment and a society form a good moral trend.
