EMBA students mainly come from three categories: senior leaders of enterprises, leaders of middle departments of enterprises and leaders of government economic management departments. According to the nature of the research questions, EMBA papers can be divided into four categories:
(1) enterprise strategic management. The first task of senior leaders is to grasp the strategy. Studying the strategic issues through the thesis can not only complete the thesis, but also be of great help to the strategic promotion of enterprises.
(2) Functional management based on strategic vision. Senior leaders should look at functional management from a strategic perspective, such as strategic application, human resources strategy and marketing strategy. On the other hand, many enterprises focus on one or two functions every year, and launch themes such as "marketing management year" and "production management year" to gradually eliminate the weak links in management methods.
(3) Macro management of enterprises by government departments. China is a government-led economy, and government departments play an important role in policy formulation, financial support and industry development. How to attract more investment, provide a good environment for enterprise development (such as the construction of industrial parks and development zones) and promote enterprise development is an important task of the government, and can also be used as an EMBA paper.
(4) Soft power. The soft power of enterprises includes cultural construction, brand management, crisis management, capital operation, merger and reorganization, team management, information management and so on. Compared with developed countries, China's economic soft power is very weak. Many enterprises mainly rely on processing trade and low-price competition to survive, and they are in a very passive position in the industrial chain. Taking the promotion of soft power as an EMBA thesis is of great significance for improving the core competitiveness of enterprises.
Second, the characteristics of EMBA thesis
Because most of the students are senior leaders of enterprises, it is necessary to stand at the height of the whole enterprise and focus on strategy, integrity and long-term, rather than operability. The characteristics of EMBA thesis mainly include:
(1) strategy. What EMBA thesis studies and solves should not be a management function problem, but a problem related to the long-term development of enterprises and facing market competition. Even if we study a management function, we should plan and embody the strategy from a long-term perspective.
(2) Integrity. Each department of an enterprise is an organic whole, and senior leaders must have systematic thoughts and seek the best solution from the whole.
(3) practicality. EMBA thesis also emphasizes application, and the research object of the thesis must come from reality, preferably the problems of students' own units.
According to the requirements of the degree office, the length of EMBA thesis is more than 20 thousand words, which is less than that of MBA thesis. Therefore, the paper should be more concise and unnecessary to be lengthy. Theoretical review and other parts can be appropriately compressed.
Third, the topic selection of EMBA thesis
The topic of the thesis is to determine the research problem. According to the training objectives of EMBA and following certain principles, the main problems to be solved should be selected.
When choosing a topic, we should grasp three principles:
First, choose the issues that senior leaders should study. Whether you are the chairman or the general manager, you should study the overall, holistic and long-term issues from the perspective of senior leaders and use strategic thinking.
Second, the theme is reflected in the topic selection. For example, the theme of "a company's innovative culture construction" is "a company's innovative culture construction research", and if the topic is "a company's corporate culture construction research", it seems very dull.
Third, the application of topic selection method. For example, "Research on KPI-based human resource evaluation system of a company", in which "KPI" is an advanced method and tool.
Fourth, we should embody new management concepts. The theory of enterprise management is constantly developing, and new ideas, methods and tools should be embodied in the paper. For example, "Research on Strategic Marketing Management Based on Customer Orientation", in which "customer orientation" is a new management idea, and the paper embodies the word "new". For another example, "A company's strategic R&D system based on resource integration" also reflects the new thinking of the fourth generation of R&D.
