Liu Weidong, male, assistant director, researcher (Grade II), doctoral supervisor, winner of Jieqing 20 1 1 (Research on Geography-Regional Development). 1988 graduated from the geography department of Peking University; 199 1 obtained the master's degree from the Institute of Geography, China Academy of Sciences, and stayed in school; 1996 went to the geography department of the university of hong kong to study for a doctorate. 1After graduation at the end of 1999, he returned to work in the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences (received his doctorate in 2000). He was hired as a researcher in 2004 and became a doctoral supervisor in 2005. He is currently the deputy director of the research department of human geography and regional development of the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the deputy director of the World Geography and Resources Research Center. Deputy Director of Key Laboratory of Regional Sustainable Development Analysis and Simulation of China Academy of Sciences, and Professor of China Academy of Sciences.

He is also a member of the Expert Steering Committee of the National Sustainable Development Experimental Zone, the head of the Northeast Expert Group, and the editorial board of the Progress of Geographical Science and Geographical Research; Member of the National Committee for the Examination and Approval of Scientific and Technological Terms and the Committee for the Examination and Approval of Geographical Terms. He used to be a member of the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" expert advisory group for the western development, a part-time consultant of the World Bank (200 1, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005) and an expert of the expert committee of China Development Bank (2003-2005).

He has won the 7th National Youth Geographical Science and Technology Award (2003), the 1st Matasena Youth Excellent Thesis Award (2003), the Excellent Doctoral Thesis Award of the Faculty of Arts of Hong Kong University (2000) and the second prize of China Academy of Sciences for Scientific and Technological Progress (1998). He has organized "Symposium on New Economic Geography across the Taiwan Strait" (2003, 2005 and 2009) and "The Second Global Economic Geography Conference" (2007).
