Academic Forum for Doctoral Students in Atmospheric and Marine Sciences, Department of Atmospheric and Marine Sciences, Peking University Institute of Physics.
The Department of Atmospheric and Marine Sciences of Peking University Institute of Physics held the first national academic forum for doctoral students in atmospheric and marine sciences.

According to the plan of the Ministry of Education, the first national academic forum for doctoral students in atmospheric and marine sciences 20 1 1 was successfully held in Peking University from July 25th to 27th. The theme of this forum is "Climate Change: Scientific Problems, Impacts and Countermeasures". Funded by Peking University, sponsored by the Department of Atmospheric and Marine Science of Peking University Institute of Physics, there are 14 universities across the Taiwan Strait (including Nanjing University, Beijing Normal University, China University of Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, China Ocean University, Lanzhou University, PLA University of Science and Technology, Taiwan Province Normal University, lasg, Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Environment and Engineering in Cold and Arid Regions of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Graduate School of China Academy of Sciences). The doctoral students attending the meeting made oral reports or posted reports on four topics: global climate, regional climate, air-sea interaction and atmospheric physics. At the opening ceremony, Ding, a researcher at the National Climate Center of China Meteorological Bureau and an academician of China Academy of Engineering, gave a wonderful invited report entitled "The Impact of Climate Change on the Water Cycle". In addition, Professor Liu Zhengyu and Professor Hu Yongyun from the Department of Atmospheric and Marine Sciences of Peking University Institute of Physics also gave a special report on the history of scientific research on interdecadal climate change and global warming.

During the forum, the participants discussed enthusiastically, achieving the purpose of promoting the exchange of young researchers between different institutions. The participating doctoral students also conducted a simulated defense of the Youth Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China in groups, and the teachers who participated in the evaluation of the Fund Committee made comments, so that the participating doctoral students experienced the main points of the application of the fund projects. At the end of the forum, awards such as the best oral report, the best posted report and the best scientific research team were awarded. Participants agreed that this doctoral forum promoted the understanding and communication between doctoral students in different units and fields, and also reminded everyone that it is very meaningful to do research behind closed doors. I look forward to continuing it in the future.
