Lu (pinyin: lǐ) is a first-class Chinese character (commonly used word). This word first appeared in Oracle Bone Inscriptions in Shang Dynasty, and it is generally believed that its original meaning is trampling, and it was extended to the noun shoe at the end of the Warring States Period. About the Tang Dynasty, the position of "shoes" was replaced by "shoes". Footwear extends from trampling to experiencing, doing and practicing, and also to life.
Oracle Bone Inscriptions has seen the word "Lu Zi". Oracle Bone Inscriptions's main body is humanoid, with the lower part protruding from people's feet and a short cross under the feet, which looks like shoes or symbolic shoes; Speaking of the upper part, it is the word "eyebrow" in pinyin. The bronze inscription in the Western Zhou Dynasty says "boat", and the bamboo slips in the Warring States period added the word "stop", emphasizing stepping with your feet and experiencing with your feet. The ancient style of Shuowen inherited the writing style of Chu bamboo slips, but changed from "stop" to "foot".
In Shuowen, the shape of Xiao Zhuan is from corpse to boat, from corpse to "human" shape, or from eyebrow shape. The bamboo slips of Qin tomb in Shuihudi are from corpse to self, and the shape of "self" is the wrong change of the word boat. From the early years of the Western Han Dynasty, the writing place was changed from being connected with the boat to being similar to the character "Fu", which was inherited by the inscriptions in the Eastern Han Dynasty and the characters in the bamboo slips in Juyan, and the form of regular script evolved directly from this.
But at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, we can still see the characters in Xiping Shijing. The structure before the word "Lu Zi" changed is not from complex, but from boat to stop.
The basic meaning of "shoes" is walking and stepping on shoes. Mr. Qiu Xigui pointed out in the article "Based on the Bronze Inscription of the Western Zhou Dynasty" that when the possession or use right of the land in the Bronze Inscription of the Western Zhou Dynasty is transferred, it is usually necessary to explore the four boundaries at one time and formally determine the scope of the land on the spot. This behavior of exploring the boundary is called "standing". Judging from the behavior of exploring the border, "stepping" means walking and trampling. "Poetry Xiaoya Xiao Min" records: "Treading on thin ice with trepidation."
Among them, "walking on thin ice" is like walking on thin ice. The explanation of "shoes" in Shuo Wen Jie Zi is: "shoes, feet rely on them." In other words, "shoes" are what you wear on your feet, that is, shoes, which are actually an extension of the original meaning. According to textual research, "shoe" was only used as a verb before the Warring States period, while the nominal "shoe" was generally used as "Ju". After the Warring States period, the usage of the word "shoe" gradually increased.
