The double helix structure of dna molecule is one of the most influential and important scientific discoveries in the 20th century. 1953, Crick and Watson published the classic paper Some Thoughts on Molecular Structure. They correctly explained the structural characteristics of dna and revealed its important functions: dna is the carrier of genetic information and contains gene sequences that control biological characteristics.
Crick and Watson's research not only promoted the development of the whole biological field, but also laid the foundation for the subsequent development of genetic engineering and gene diagnosis technology.
