It should be noted that joining the WTO conforms to the trend of the times, which is conducive to Russia's active integration into economic globalization, provides a powerful impetus for effectively solving the structural problems of Russia's domestic economy, and is of great significance to Russia's long-term development.
First of all, it cleared the way for Russian goods to enter the international market. In recent years, with the increasing number of international trade frictions, it has become the focus of Russia's foreign economic and trade policy to effectively ensure that domestic goods enter the international market without discrimination. Joining the World Trade Organization is conducive to Russia's integration into the process of global trade liberalization, and also eliminates trade discrimination and technical barriers, thus accelerating the development of Russia's foreign trade.
Secondly, it is conducive to solving international trade disputes. At present, the international trade disputes facing Russia are also on the rise. After becoming a member of the WTO, Russia is no longer excluded from the modern mechanism of mediating trade disputes, so it can make full use of the coordination mechanism within the WTO to solve trade disputes. Years of practice have proved that this mechanism is effective. In addition, Russia can independently propose to modify or cancel anti-dumping measures against Russia, thus greatly reducing the huge economic losses suffered.
Third, it is conducive to Russia's foreign investment cooperation. The WTO Agreement on Trade and Investment Measures and the General Agreement on Trade in Services have created favorable conditions for trade and investment cooperation between Russia and other countries and regions, and also made it possible for Russian enterprises to enter foreign markets. After becoming a member of WTO, Russia can also influence the formulation of world trade rules according to its own actual situation, so as to better safeguard its own interests in the process of economic globalization.
Fourth, joining the WTO will promote Russia's better integration into the international community. In order to join the WTO, Russia must gradually revise its relevant trade laws and regulations to make them conform to the spirit of WTO laws and documents. After Russia's investment policy and tax policy are in line with international standards, it can also create favorable conditions for attracting more foreign investment and fully participating in the process of economic globalization. At the same time, after China's entry into the WTO, Russia can more conveniently absorb foreign advanced technologies and management methods and improve the competitiveness of its own industries.
