Open-book beneficial argumentative paper
"Reading is beneficial" is a common topic to guide middle school students to read in newspapers and periodicals. According to them, middle school students should read widely, the more the better, and only in this way can they become talents.

However, I feel that although I have read many books, I should pay attention to my choice. We must not generally advocate extensive reading, the more the better.

There have indeed been some scholars in human history. Aristotle, an ancient Greek scholar, founded formal logic, plants, biology and philosophers, and also had unique views on medicine, linguistics and ethics. Zhang Heng, a great scientist in ancient China, not only made many achievements in science, but also was a famous writer. However, such scholars are a minority after all, and it is not only impossible but also unrealistic to make young people become knowledgeable.

Today's society is a high-frequency and high-tempo information society, and publications are growing at an accelerated rate. China's publications alone are much more than all the classic works accumulated in human history during Aristotle and Zhang Heng's period. Keiko became a great scholar in the pre-Qin period, but if his bamboo slips of "Five Cars" become the printed version now, even a schoolbag can hold it. The total amount of human knowledge and the complexity and diversity of scientific categories are not the same in ancient and modern times. Today, there are countless books and periodicals that spread knowledge, but human life is limited. Even if they are poor, they can't finish reading all the books.

Great changes have taken place in the current knowledge system. In the past, people respected the horizontal knowledge structure and pursued broadness. The current knowledge structure tends to be vertical and needs depth. Social division of labor is more than 360 lines!

Everyone has a position where he can do his best and needs specific professional knowledge. It is of course beneficial to know more knowledge outside the major, but you don't have to read widely and know everything. People who make spaceships are not necessarily poets, and people who write novels are not necessarily mathematicians. Everyone has a skill, everyone has a suitable position, and traveling in their own knowledge field will not be exhausted even after a lifetime of energy. If you deliberately pursue the superficial breadth of knowledge, you will learn deeply, but you will be as proficient as a dragonfly, like a floating cloud sweeping away the air and duckweed floating in the water. What's more, people's knowledge does not depend entirely on the total amount of knowledge, but on whether the knowledge structure is reasonable. People with different historical missions and different historical times have different knowledge structures. As long as the structure is scientific and reasonable, even if the amount of knowledge is not so large, they can successfully undertake and complete the task. The so-called "open book is beneficial" should encourage people to read more professional books or books related to their majors.

One more thing, some people blindly pursue "open books". They read all kinds of books indiscriminately and without thinking, such as ghosts, superstitions, pornography and reactionary books. The result is not only useless, but also harmful. It is important to choose "open book". Whether the knowledge structure is scientific and reasonable depends on the correct choice in the process of knowledge accumulation.

After talking a lot, I finally got to the point. Although "opening the book" is "beneficial", we must be selective, thoughtful, planned and purposeful. This is an extremely important knowledge recovery and intellectual investment.
