Different from writing a paper, there must be an overall thinking and planning from the beginning, such as document management, document index, data management, table and picture management and so on.
It is suggested to establish a folder from the beginning, which contains all aspects of subfolders, classification and system management.
2. Writing pays attention to one go.
Seeing many people writing papers, I wrote half a page today and hundreds of words tomorrow, which was extremely painful. It's better to think before writing, clear your mind, and then write. Sometimes the writing is fluent, and it is not surprising to write a paper in a day or two.
Don't expect a draft to be finalized.
The most important thing in writing a paper is the first draft, because starting from scratch is the most difficult. After the first draft comes out, no matter how sharp and changeable the opinions are, it is not too difficult to modify them. As the saying goes, a hundred tempering makes steel, and so does paper. Often the final draft is always unrecognizable compared with the first draft. Therefore, for the first draft, be quick, not precise.
4. Don't rush to generate a list of bibliographic documents.
Because once this document list is inserted, it will always be updated repeatedly when it is changed, and sometimes word will crash, resulting in improper saving or paper loss. If you use software such as endnote, use {author's name, year and other information} at the place where you insert the literature when writing, and finally generate a list together.
5. The concept of paper and the concept of paper are still different. Exquisiteness is not the most important requirement for a paper, but details are the most important. For paper, exquisiteness is the most important, because magazines often have word limits, and exquisite words will be more favored by magazines. Therefore, when writing a paper, you must be as detailed as possible, especially the first draft, and then you can make a slight deletion when revising it.
6. You will always find that this word will be "wrong" from time to time.
For example, why the directory format is always wrong, why the option of "only updating page numbers" in the directory is gone, how to insert page numbers on the left side of the horizontal version, how to customize the page number of the footer, how to distinguish between inserting page breaks and section break, and so on.
Remember, once you encounter similar problems, you should find and solve them as soon as possible. It's not that there is something wrong with the design of Word, but that you can't use it yet. Many times, online search can solve the problem. So these questions won't bother you anymore.
7. Communicate the writing progress and requirements of the thesis with the tutor in time.
Every tutor has different habits. For example, my tutor in Hong Kong doesn't read the whole manuscript, and now the German boss asks me to write a chapter and then she corrects it. The final quality control is in the hands of the tutor, so communication is the most important.
