Cultivation of Begonia Illicium
China is one of the countries with the richest kinds of flowers in the world, and it is also one of the origins of flower cultivation in the world. The working people in China have a long history of domestication, cultivation and utilization of flowers. In the long historical development process, because of its close relationship with people's lives, flowers have been continuously injected with thoughts and feelings and integrated into culture and life, thus forming a cultural phenomenon related to flowers and a flower-centered cultural system, which is China flower culture. China's flower culture is full of pan-humanism. Subconsciously, the ancients did not regard flowers as external natural objects, but regarded them as creatures like themselves. This kind of consciousness originates from the Book of Changes and the thoughts of Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi.

Haitang is deeply loved by Chinese people and is often used in classical gardens and modern gardens. However, there is little systematic research on begonia culture in China, and the research on begonia culture is only scattered in some comprehensive expositions on begonia culture. In the book Ancient Flowers, Shu Yinglan introduced the culture of begonia flower in a separate section, and summarized the cultivation history, allusions and legends, poems and songs of ancient begonia flower. In his book Flowers and China Culture, He Xiaoyan described the development history of begonia from a literary point of view, highlighting the important position of begonia in ornamental plants in the Song Dynasty. In Zhou Wuzhong's Flowers and China Culture, the study of begonia flower culture is scattered throughout the book. Liu Zhiqiang's master's thesis "Study on the Variety Resources and Landscape Application of Begonia in East China" summarizes the records and research of Begonia in ancient times.
