Brief introduction of Zhiyu (the year of birth and death is unknown), the word Xinqing, a genealogist in the Western Jin Dynasty, is worshipped by Shang officials. According to Shi Shuo Xin Yu Literature, Zhiyu once discussed the distinction of articles, which was one of the beginnings of China's ancient literary criticism. In his paper, he put forward that "Fu's essays have a purpose" and divided the essays into four categories: the first category is Confucian classics that are expected to exert their majesty, such as Confucian exegesis, Zhouyi biography, annotations, historical comments and Analects of Confucius, Mencius, poems, books, rites and music; Zhuangzi, Liezi, Mozi, Yi and Tao Te Ching, which discuss the relationship between human nature and heaven, belong to the second category. Chuci, Lisao and Jiuge, which express personal feelings and opinions, are the third category. The fourth category is stories, riddles and oral English of the same period. Zhiyu's article distinguishes different schools and reveals the diversity of literature, which is considered as an important milestone in literary criticism.
