Agricultural Water Conservancy Engineering is the predecessor of Sichuan Agricultural University Water Conservancy and Electric Power College, which was established on the basis of the former Sichuan Water Conservancy and Electric Power School with the approval of Sichuan Provincial People's Government in 2000. The major of agricultural building environment and energy engineering was established in 1992. The Department of Agricultural Machinery was founded in 1958, renamed as department of mechanical engineering in 1996, and renamed as the Department of Agricultural Engineering in 2003 to adapt to the development of disciplines. With the continuous development of the discipline, the agricultural engineering department is divided into: agricultural machinery department and hydropower department. The department of agricultural machinery has an undergraduate major in agricultural mechanization and automation. Through the hard work of the teachers of agricultural machinery department, a large number of outstanding talents such as Ni, member of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial Committee and director of Xinhua Internal Combustion Engine Factory, have been sent to the country.

The computer department has two undergraduate majors: computer science and technology and e-commerce. Among them, 1994 set up computer application specialty (junior college), and after six years of preparation, computer science and technology specialty (undergraduate) was set up in 2000. Relying on the School of Economics and Management of Sichuan Agricultural University, the e-commerce major (undergraduate) was established in 2002.
