Self-taught examination for higher education, referred to as self-taught examination for short, was established with the approval of 198 1 the State Council. It is a national examination of higher education for self-learners, a form of higher education combining individual self-study, social assistance and national examination, and an important part of China's socialist higher education system. It is to promote a wide range of individual self-study and social assistance activities through national examinations, implement the relevant provisions of the Constitution to encourage self-study, train and select professionals with both ability and political integrity, and improve the ideological and moral quality and scientific and cultural quality of the whole nation to meet the needs of socialist modernization.

High school graduates, or high school graduates with equivalent academic qualifications, including secondary schools, technical schools and secondary vocational schools, can sign up for the college examination.
Specific requirements for applying for undergraduate course
1, you must have a nationally recognized college degree before you can apply for the undergraduate part of the higher education self-study exam.
2, party school and cadre correspondence college graduates, do not have the qualification to take the undergraduate examination.
3. The 1 year self-study exam declared by many training institutions in society is not a national unified self-study exam recognized by the state.
4. Candidates who take the undergraduate examination shall register at the local registration point of their major with their graduation certificate and ID card. Apply for undergraduate courses with different majors, and try corresponding courses according to different needs of majors.
Application process of higher education self-study exam
1, determine the registration time of your province and city.
2. Self-study exams are held four times a year (the number of exams in each province and city is determined by the provincial examination office), and the exam time is 1, April, July and 10 respectively. Since 20 15, the examination time has been adjusted twice to April and 10. Please consult the local self-study office for details. At the beginning of applying for the exam, you should first find out which courses you took in provinces and cities in the past to determine the subjects you want to apply for.
3. Choose a major (the majors offered in different provinces and cities are different, please refer to the examination plan columns of local self-taught provinces and cities and choose the one that suits you).
