Must know! How to set the style and format of Word2003 document typesetting
To typeset a paper, you must first be familiar with the typesetting requirements of the paper, and then set the Word style. For example, in this article, I first set the title styles at all levels according to the format requirements.

As shown in figure 1 1, click the format pane in the format toolbar to open the style and format task pane, as shown in figure 1 2.

In figure 1 2, we can see that several preset styles are displayed by default in the task pane of styles and formats. According to our format requirements, three titles are enough. If necessary, you can click all styles in the display drop-down menu at the bottom of the Styles and Formatting task pane, and then select the desired style according to your own needs, as shown in figure 1 3.

Now, according to the format requirements of this article, modify the formats in "Title 1", "Title 2" and "Title 3" styles.

1. Click the drop-down arrow to the right of the "Title 1" style (it will be displayed automatically when the mouse moves to the title style), and click "Modify" to open the dialog box for modifying the style. As shown in figure 1 4.

This paper requires the title 1 to be in the format of "Bold No.3", which can be modified directly in the Modify Style dialog box, as shown in the red box in Figure 4. Modify the styles of heading 2 and heading 3 as needed.

Here is just a brief description of the title style modification. Everyone should draw inferences from others and find the style they want to modify and use in the style set according to their own needs.

Description of "body" style

There are format requirements for text in the format requirements, but we can't change the format of "text" in the style set casually, because many styles are based on "text". For example, the format that remains after the Clear Format command is executed on the specified text or paragraph is the Text format. You can create a new document, enter some contents at will, modify the style of "text" in it, and then execute the "clear format" command, which is clear at a glance.

Outline level description

The default heading 1 style contains the outline level of 1, and heading 2 is level 2. By analogy, Word always supports 9 outline level settings. The outline level plays an important role. For example, the generation of the directory mentioned later depends entirely on the setting of the outline level, and the "multi-level numbering" in "Bullets and numbering" mentioned later.

Default style description

Personally, I think it is necessary to modify and set these default styles. Especially for the typesetting of papers, it is better to use the default style than to create a new style, and the importance of this will be explained in the following table of contents generation.
