Starting from the core technology of GPS and the present situation of engineering surveying and mapping, this paper expounds the principles and characteristics of GPS, and analyzes the application of GPS network layout, real-time surveying and mapping and GPS field surveying and mapping. This paper mainly discusses the application of GPS mapping in engineering surveying and mapping.

With the rise of new technology, various surveying and mapping technologies, which combine the knowledge of electronics, laser technology and GPS surveying and mapping, have been applied to engineering surveying and mapping. This paper introduces the concept and advantages of GPS surveying and mapping, and discusses its application in engineering surveying and mapping.
