Silage corn is the most important feed source for herbivorous livestock, especially dairy cows. High quality silage corn has the characteristics of high starch content, low NDF content and high NDF digestibility. Neutral detergent fiber is the main component of cell wall of silage corn stalk. On the one hand, it promotes the strength of corn stalks and enhances the lodging resistance. On the other hand, moderate NDF can provide energy for ruminants, promote rumination and keep rumen healthy, but excessive NDF will affect the digestion and absorption of ruminants. The NDF content of straw is influenced by genetic factors, cultivation conditions, environment and other factors, but genetic factors are the main influencing factors, so it is of great guiding significance to mine the genetic information of NDF of straw for quality breeding of silage corn.
Recently, Lin Miao and others published a research paper entitled "genome-wide association studies of neutral detergent fiber content in silage corn" in journal of maize sciences Magazine. In this study, 3,465,438+0 maize inbred lines were planted and harvested in Shenyang and Tongliao in 2065,438+08, and the neutral detergent fiber content of their straws was determined.
