How to identify honeycomb fossils
Honeycomb fossils These prehistoric wasp cocoons are called trace fossils by paleontologists. Paleontologists published a paper earlier this year, saying that these fossils can be traced back to 75 million years ago, which will help reveal the living environment of dinosaurs and other creatures at that time. Prehistoric wasps are very similar to modern wasps. They built these shapes of bee cocoons next to dinosaur nests. Because insects are very picky about the location of their nests, they usually choose a relatively dry soil environment. Their living environment must be similar to that of nearby dinosaur nests, so paleontologists can also indirectly understand the living environment of dinosaurs.

Different from the existing fossils with honeycomb cavities, they are all coral fossils or honeycomb imitations, as shown in the following figure.
