The College of Biotechnology and Food Science has always taken the continuous improvement of teaching quality and the cultivation of high-quality talents as its ultimate goal. Since the establishment of the hospital, it has achieved many achievements in teaching reform at or above the provincial and ministerial levels, published 8 monographs and teaching materials, and built a municipal-level excellent course of "Microbiology". In order to make education better serve economic construction and talent training closer to the needs of market economy, we are guided by social needs and constantly carry out professional rectification and talent knowledge structure adjustment on the basis of full investigation of talent market demand. While strengthening the teaching of basic theory, we should take scientific research and extracurricular scientific and technological activities as the carrier, strive to broaden the professional direction and strengthen the cultivation of compound talents. Under the training mode of combining theory with practice, students have won the Tianjin Gold Award and the National Silver Award in the national college students' "Challenge Cup" scientific and technological works and entrepreneurship competition for many times, and won the collective and individual first and second prizes in the Tianjin college students' modeling competition and the Tianjin college students' mathematics competition for many times. "Reasonable knowledge structure, strong practical ability and active way of thinking" have become the characteristics of graduates in our college. The employment rate of graduates is over 85%. Some students are located in state-owned enterprises and joint ventures in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Qingdao and Suzhou, and are engaged in production, research and development, quality control, management and marketing. At the same time, the admission rate of graduates for postgraduate entrance examination is among the best, and the proportion of them admitted to key universities (such as China Renmin University, China Agricultural University, China Ocean University, East China University of Science and Technology, South China University of Technology, China Pharmaceutical University, Tianjin University, etc.). ) accounts for more than 50% of the total number of postgraduate students. The employment rate of students has been rising. The rise of high-tech enterprises in China, the future economic development and the lack of senior engineering and technical personnel provide unprecedented opportunities and space for the graduates of our college. While focusing on teaching, the faculty and staff of the college actively engage in scientific research, scientific and technological development and achievement transformation. After years of discipline construction, the College has condensed some unique discipline directions, initially formed a scientific research team with reasonable knowledge structure, educational background structure and age structure, and formed its own research characteristics in the fields of dairy product safety monitoring and processing, agricultural product storage and processing, development of bioactive substances, functional food application, microorganisms and their enzymes, medicinal materials and dosage forms, and pharmaceutical chemical modification. In the past five years, it has successively undertaken national key projects and national natural science foundation projects 10, 26 major scientific and technological key projects in Tianjin, key basic research projects in Tianjin and natural science foundation projects in Tianjin, and accumulated national vertical research funds of nearly130,000 yuan. Through the expert appraisal project 17 organized by institutions above the provincial level, more than 20 papers have been published in international conferences and international journals, and important publications have been published at home and abroad. In addition, the faculty and staff of our college actively carried out Industry-University-Research exchanges and cooperation with the whole country, especially Tianjin, and signed comprehensive cooperation agreements with large enterprise groups such as Haihe Dairy, Fuji Temple Dairy Group, Tianjin Shifa Group and Biological Products Corporation of the Ministry of Health, and established close cooperative relations. The products developed by the institute have been partially industrialized in these companies, resulting in economic benefits of10 million yuan.

The work of the College of Biotechnology and Food Science has been fully affirmed by leaders at all levels and party organizations. From 2000 to 2004, the General Party Branch was awarded the title of "Advanced Party Organization" and "Advanced Collective of Ideological and Political Work" by the Education Commission, the trade union was awarded the title of "Advanced Collective of Trade Union Work in Colleges and Departments of Tianjin University", and the College was successively awarded the title of "Advanced Collective and Civilized Unit of Business School". In the course of 20 years' development, we have enrolled junior college students in food engineering, food technology and food experimenter, as well as higher vocational students and junior college students in food science and engineering and new food technology. At present, higher vocational and junior college students are still enrolling students.

After just 23 years' efforts, the College of Biotechnology and Food Science has developed from a "food engineering" major in the past to four undergraduate majors, two master's programs and 1 Tianjin Key Laboratory. It is one of the most powerful second-level colleges in Tianjin University of Commerce, with the ability to undertake major national and Tianjin key research projects, key research topics and key funds.
