I have only studied the history of western art, so I only know a few painting schools, and I am deeply impressed by neoclassical angels and romantic Delacroix ~ ~
Neoclassicism consciously chooses objects, which not only rejects Rococo's shallowness, but also denies Baroque's illusion of composition. Through healthy rationality and strong moral sense, artists try to restore and transform the noble virtue image in Greek and Roman cultural relics, thus trying to transform the world. In the eyes of some historians, this phenomenon of denying Rococo's frivolity and Baroque's fury for lofty moral goals reflects that the ideal of the Enlightenment reached the highest level at the end of 18.
Neoclassicism has caused fundamental changes in the style and content of visual art in Europe and the United States. For example, exquisite curves and C-shaped whirlpools have given way to MingLiang Yu's straight lines, colorful pictures have given way to smooth statue modeling, and soft and indifferent colors have given way to the method of applying heavy colors instead of lines in clear outlines.
Romanticism seems to have different origins in Europe, but some people say that romanticism is separated from neoclassicism, because it does not have its own origin in genealogy, and it only deals with the same historical tradition in a complicated way, which is relatively simple in neoclassicism. In addition, romanticism has a strong purpose like neoclassicism. The difference between the two is that neoclassicism tries to express universal and eternal values, while the ultimate standard of romanticism is the artist's own feelings. Neo-classicism identifies with rationality, while romanticism identifies with feelings and passions. Romanticism, because of its subjectivity and recognition of individual autonomy, has profoundly changed the attitude of art towards life and the expression of art in the 18 and 19 centuries, thus causing a wide and lasting impact.
