Heyuan Tuocheng Dialect

Hakka people living in Heyuan and other places use two kinds of Hakka dialects. One is "water source sound", which is slightly different from Meizhou Hakka dialect. It is the language of Hakka ancestors who drove Dongjiang water to live in Lingnan. When Qin Shihuang launched a 500,000-strong army to the south, Zhao Tuo led a team stationed in the south of Jiangxi. In the upper reaches of the Ganjiang River, Taojiang River or Gongshui River connects the river with Xiangshui River, crosses Dingnan River and finds Dongjiang River underwater, and is appointed as Longchuan County magistrate. The "water source sound" used by Hakkas in Dongjiang River Basin since Qin and Han Dynasties is also called "snake language". Zhao Tuo, also known as, actually refers to a snake, whether it is "he" or "he". Shuowen explained: "It is also a bug. It grows from a worm, like a curved tail. In ancient times, grass lived with it, so I asked if it was there? " Ancient Lingnan was a barbarian land, full of boils, insects and snakes, and people tattooed their hair to avoid dragons. (Hanshu Geography) Following the discovery of dinosaur eggs near Dongjiang in 1996, dinosaur fossils were discovered in 1999, indicating that the ancient Dongjiang Valley was the hometown of dinosaur diseases. Fossil history scientifically shows that the ancient Dongjiang River basin is not an exaggeration. When people talk about Zhao Tuo, they naturally mean "snake language".

The other is Meizhou dialect with Meicheng accent in Meizhou City (Meijiang District and Meixian District). Hakka ancestors in Huizhou, Heyuan and Dongguan moved south, one from Guanzhong area in Shaanxi, the other from Central Plains to Shaoguan, and the other from Huaihe River, Anhui, Fujian and Jiangxi to Heyuan.

Tuocheng dialect in Heyuan is a very iron Hakka dialect, which is very close to Dapu dialect in Meizhou, Huizhou dialect, Raoping Hakka dialect in Chaozhou and Zhaoan Hakka dialect in Fujian, but slightly different from Meizhou Hakka dialect. It can make people feel the sound of ancient plains, and it can make people feel the unyielding soul of the Han nationality for thousands of years. If Tuocheng dialect in Heyuan can be integrated with Meizhou dialect with Meicheng accent in Meizhou (Meijiang District and Meixian District), it will become a more perfect Hakka dialect, which is easier to communicate and spread in contemporary society.
