During his tenure as the head of the history department of Xiamen University, Professor Chen Zhiping strengthened discipline construction, made great efforts to cultivate a reasonable academic echelon, and actively carried out academic exchanges and cooperation, thus increasing the number of doctoral degree awarding points in the history department to three, becoming one of the first batch of basic science training and scientific research bases for liberal arts approved by the State Education Commission, and continuing to maintain the leading position of China's socio-economic history research in academic circles.
