Among human beings, at the beginning of the 20th century, gender roles in the West revolved around the concept of heterosexual behavior, which was quite fixed. If people change gender roles, for example, a woman gets a position of high power, it is usually rare or discriminated against. A man enjoys sex, has a career, is difficult to express his feelings, and has great social pressure. A woman, wearing cosmetics, expects to get married, start a family and become a housewife. A feminine man will be more or less similar to the woman in the usual concept.

A girl, wearing skirts and dresses, playing with dolls, likes the color similar to pink, has long hair and wants to make up. A masculine girl will behave like a boy in the usual concept.

A boy, wearing wrinkled clothes, likes blue and other colors, plays small tin soldiers, participates in competitive sports teams, likes fighting, doesn't like crying and has short hair.

Boys who are feminine will behave like girls in the usual concept.

Gender roles-western

After the sexual revolution, gay liberation and feminist movement in the mid-20th century (especially in the 1960s), new gender roles began to appear in western society and became changeable. Some common concepts of gender roles, such as those listed in the table, are usually considered as "fixed prejudices". However, due to the physiological differences between the two sexes, it is still of positive significance to adhere to the traditional gender roles.
