Through long-term research, Kong has a clear understanding of the overall development of veterinary field and the development of various branches of parasitology. After 1980s, he took the lead in leading graduate students to study in vitro culture of nematodes, life history of coccidia, biochemical and electron microscopic structure, trypanosoma immunity and geographical strains in China, which made the research of parasites in China develop from morphological description to experimental research and molecular parasitology, and created conditions for exploring the immunity, drug screening, drug resistance determination and physiological and biochemical research of nematodes. During his tenure as the head of the department of veterinary medicine, his work style was democratic, and the leadership team was United and cooperated, which greatly improved the work level of the department. In scientific research, he is far-sighted and good at grasping the signs. At that time, experimental animal science was a new discipline in China's agricultural system, with a rather weak foundation and an urgent need to catch up. He seized this new topic, organized a team, set up an experimental animal teaching and research group, undertook the task of setting up an agricultural biological experimental animal center entrusted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, planned to open an agricultural experimental animal specialty, and began to enroll students in 1985.
Then, he led graduate students to introduce molecular biology technology into parasitology, and made good progress in insect strain evolution, trypanosoma immunity, tick immunity and so on. Kong Fanyao led his colleagues to grasp this point very early and keep up with the trend of the times.
As an academic leader, he is rigorous in his studies and has a decent style. He is not only very cautious in putting forward new ideas, but also encourages graduate students and young teachers to put forward new academic concepts. At the same time, he requires a comprehensive investigation of the materials and detailed work. In the use of scientific research funds, he has never been stingy to buy instruments and reagents, but he has never used them to invite guests to dinner and so on. Together with professional colleagues, he undertook a number of key projects of the Ministry of Agriculture, doctoral programs and natural science funds. 10 years, 1 1 scientific research achievements won provincial and ministerial awards. For example, the "Study on Fauna Classification of Parasitic Nematodes in Guyuan Area of Ningxia" presided over by him won the second prize of scientific and technological achievements of Ningxia People's Government 1986. As one of the main participants, in the research of "Life history, biology, pathology, diagnosis and control of coccidia taize and its parent coccidia destroyed by Beijing duck", the endogenous development and pathogenicity of two genera and two coccidia were studied in detail for the first time, and good economic benefits were achieved in the control work, thus winning the first prize of 1983 Technical Progress Award of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries. Veterinary parasitology and parasitology of Beijing Agricultural University are listed as national key disciplines by the State Education Commission 1988.
It is also worth mentioning that Confucius opened up the research field of plant nematodes in China earlier. 65438-0966 On the recommendation of Professor Lin, a famous botanist, Kong went to the postgraduate class of Wageningen University in the Netherlands to study plant and soil nematology. His study day and night laid the foundation for his later teaching and research in plant nematology. China Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Academy of Forestry both attended his courses on plant nematology. Plant nematodes parasitize the tissues and roots of plants and do great harm to crops and trees. Pine trees in Nanjing Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum are seriously damaged by Bursaphelenchus xylophilus. Kong instructs graduate students to use mitochondrial DNA to study the evolution of Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, and to explore control methods, so as to serve agricultural and forestry production.
Kong is the author of Experimental Guide to Livestock Parasitology and Invasive Diseases (edited by Professor Xiong Dashi) and Livestock Parasitology and Invasive Diseases (edited by Professor Xiong Dashi), and has published more than 60 papers on nematodes and protozoa.
Kong's knowledge and teaching effect are well-known in agricultural university and veterinary field. Not only the students in the school like to listen to his classes, but also many students from related majors attend his classes outside the school. Some of his former students are professors now, and Kong has listened to his lectures several times, but now he still has time to listen, on the one hand, reviewing his teaching, on the other hand, inspiring his own teaching.
Teaching and educating people is the bounden duty of teachers. In recent years, teaching is often not as important as scientific research in colleges and universities. Confucius has always attached great importance to teaching. He thinks that teaching and scientific research are two essential conditions for a professor. Doing scientific research can improve academic level and make teaching enlightening, flexible and extensive. But if you only engage in scientific research and don't teach, you can't be called a professor. He considered that in the short term, scientific research is easier to see the effect than teaching, and there are funds and rewards, which are tangible and tangible; But in the long run, the social benefits of teaching are greater than scientific research. In particular, the current "short-term" scientific research is often difficult to reach the world-class academic level, and the expectation of transforming into productivity is often longer than the research cycle; Moreover, the trained talents are all going to the society in batches, which has played a greater role in the society in 15 and 20 years. Of course, a good educational effect can be achieved not by one person's strength, but by the collective strength. Therefore, universities should pay enough attention to teaching so that more people can truly understand the importance of education and its social benefits.
For decades, in the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as parasitology, plant and soil nematology, experimental technology of parasitology, and parasitology topics, Kong Bo learned from others and followed suit, which benefited students a lot. The contents of his lectures are from macro to micro, from general to concrete, from theory to practice, and the major historical events, international scientific discoveries and fallacies involved are properly interspersed, analyzed and explained in detail. What is even more admirable is that he often mumbles, writes down the Latin names of parasites on the blackboard, outlines the forms of parasites and livestock, and points out the parasitic parts of parasites in livestock with a red pen. Illustrated and easy to understand, it makes the originally boring classroom vivid. No wonder many people say that listening to Mr. Kong's class is simply an artistic enjoyment. It is in this artistic enjoyment that they learn knowledge, broaden their thinking and understand the truth of learning and being a man.
He is considerate of students and cherishes their time, hoping that they will gain more knowledge, skills and ideas in a short time. Another feature of Confucius teaching is ideological and moral edification and the enlightenment of scientific thinking. For example, he talked about plasmodium, from the scientific understanding of plasmodium in 19, to the discovery of media, and then to the period when scientists won the Nobel Prize in medicine twice in 10 (1902- 1907) before the 20th century, which made students deeply realize that the major achievements were the accumulation of knowledge and quantity. Educating students to engage in research should be practical, honest and have a solid foundation. Postgraduates report that listening to Mr. Kong's class not only enriches the knowledge reserve, enhances the scientific courage and the art of topic selection, but also improves the level of philosophical thinking and establishes the correct thinking method.
Confucius takes teaching and educating people as his own responsibility and is strict with himself. He is never late for classes and meetings. Because there are many part-time social workers, sometimes they go out for meetings during the day and go back to school at night to make up lessons for students. Every time a freshman enters school and a graduate leaves school, the college always asks him to give a lecture to the students, because he has a wide range of knowledge and rich experience, and his speech is lively and interesting, combining with reality. There is no empty talk, students like it very much, and the educational effect is very remarkable. Kong was rated as an excellent teacher in key agricultural colleges directly under the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries by 1984, and his editor-in-chief Livestock Parasitology was awarded the "National Excellent Textbook Award for Colleges and Universities" by 1988 State Education Commission. Excellent textbooks have been used in China for 17 years. Kong also has a bilingual manuscript for preparing lessons. Parasitology, a master's course, has gone beyond the scope of veterinary medicine. Wang Ming, his student and current vice president of the College of Animal Medicine, saw it and took it to offset printing. Graduate students all think this textbook is very basic and precious.
Several generations of students have similar comments on Kong Fanyao-knowledgeable and gentle; Approachable and persuasive; Hard work, modesty and generosity. He has a healthy body. When I was young, I won the first place in the 800-meter track and field competition of the young men's team in the North China Games. He likes calligraphy, painting, poetry and quiet reading. Students and colleagues are willing to talk to others about things they don't understand. He has excellent cultivation and never gets bored. I feel relaxed and happy talking to him, which inspires me to think. Professor Lin Kunhua said: I have been in contact with Mr. Kong since I was a student and have worked together for 37 years. I have never seen him angry with anyone. Sometimes when a student makes a mistake, he always makes sense patiently and points out the correct method, which is convincing. So his classmates and colleagues respect him very much. Kong Fanyao carefully revised the graduate thesis, not only professionally, but also corrected the mistakes in words and even punctuation. Nearly 20 graduate students have been trained, all of whom have made achievements, and some of their papers have been rated as excellent; Some scientific research achievements have won ministerial awards. Some go abroad for further study or seek new development; Some have become the backbone and leaders of domestic teaching and scientific research.
Kong has also made great contributions to the construction of the teaching staff of parasitology specialty. From 65438 to 0955, Kong, as Professor Xiong Dashi, the consultant of the Ministry of Education at that time and the main assistant of the Soviet expert professor, assisted the two professors and held a national workshop for parasitology teachers (including medical colleges, comprehensive universities and China Academy of Sciences), which played an important role in popularizing parasitology knowledge and technology and cultivating parasitology professionals in the early days of the founding of New China. After the Cultural Revolution, everything was in full swing. The crisis of devastating blows to the ranks of universities and scientific research units has been exposed. Many people who engage in parasites know little about international progress and some are at a loss. With the support of the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Education of the Ministry of Agriculture, Kong held five training courses in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Participants are mainly farmers, biologists and doctors. At that time, Agricultural University had just moved back to Beijing, and the conditions in all aspects were very difficult. Kong not only undertook the organization work, but also personally taught and introduced the development of parasitology in the world. More than 300 professional backbones have been trained for the teaching and scientific research of this subject, which has promoted the development of parasitology in China.
As a member of the discipline evaluation group of the early the State Council Academic Degree Committee and the convener of the veterinary group, Kong participated in the discipline planning and construction of veterinary postgraduate education, participated in the evaluation of veterinary master's degree and doctoral degree, and presided over the formulation of the training plan for master's and doctoral students in veterinary parasitology. 65438-0984 Kong was invited to attend the International Seminar on Tropical Veterinary Education held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and gave a keynote speech on "Veterinary Education in China", which comprehensively introduced the system, scale and characteristics of veterinary education in China, which aroused great interest from the representatives of the participating countries. The full text of his speech was included in the book Tropical Veterinary Education published by the conference. At the 23rd World Veterinary Congress held in Canada from 65438 to 0987, Kong made a written speech on "The Past, Present and Future of Veterinary Education in China" at the invitation of S.M.D Jaffa, one of the organizers of the Congress, and introduced the veterinary education in China to the world again. Although I didn't attend the meeting this time because of financial problems, I still won the contribution award issued by the conference.
During his tenure as a member of the Seventh and Eighth CPPCC National Committee, he lived up to expectations and fulfilled his duties. 199665438+February, his proposal of "developing popular science education on cysticercosis prevention and treatment in rural areas" became one of the excellent proposals of 125 selected by members of 1943 from 8489 cases, and was published in China People's Political Consultative Conference on February 4, 1997.
An old horse crouches, aiming at a thousand miles. Today, Kong, who is over 70 years old, is still full of energy and active in graduate forums. A year 100 class hours, still always white coat and white hat, standardized, punctual and meticulous. What's more gratifying is that young teachers have been listening to his classes and are ready to take over his classes and study his teaching system in order to carry it forward.
