Literary theory criticism in the Southern and Northern Dynasties is an important stage in the development history of China's ancient literary theory. During this period, literary theory criticism with unique national characteristics, after germination, creation and development, gradually matured and made great achievements. The cultural center of the Northern and Southern Dynasties was in the south of the Yangtze River. The achievements of literary creation and research in the Southern Dynasties far exceeded those in the Northern Dynasties, especially in literary theory criticism.
The progress of expanding information is also generally reflected in the historical works at that time. For example, Shen Yue's Biography of Song Xie Shu Ling Yun thinks that literary creation is different from classics and history, which is characterized by "expressing one's mind directly, not being close to the history of poetry, ... eloquent and natural in rhyme" and that Xie Lingyun's creation is an "inspirational meeting".
"Selected Works of Mao Zedong" Shan Li notes: "If you are happy, you will be happy. Zheng Xuan's "Zhou Li" notes:' Those who make a fortune rely on things.' It is believed that literary creation is the product of "passion", which should have a strong emotional color and a concrete and vivid feature of "entrusting things to things". On the other hand, Xiao Zixian's Biography of Southern Qi Literature holds that "Wen" is the author's "wind vane of emotion, the method of God", and it is full of artistic imagination with "passion for painting" and "thinking about things".
These views are more in line with the laws and characteristics of literary creation. The theory of "revitalizing society" later developed into "interest", which had a certain influence on the later poetic theory.
