The rockhopper is generally the crown of ancient aristocratic women in China, mostly from the royal family. "Notes on Ancient and Modern China" records that the first emperor (Qin Shihuang) took "gold and silver as the crests and tortoise shells as the feet, which was called Feng Chai." Feng Chai is the predecessor of Feng Guan, and the wearer is often a maid-in-waiting. In the Han Dynasty, the Empress Dowager and Empress also used the Phoenix headdress as a status symbol.

In 200 1 year, when Xi University of Technology was building a new campus in Qujiang, a southern suburb, a large number of ancient tombs were unexpectedly discovered, and experts also dug up the most precious rockhopper in one of them.

This is a woman's grave. According to the scene, the coffin has been rotting for a long time, but the bones in the tomb were accidentally preserved. Experts found that there have been many floods, earthquakes and other disasters in the 1200 years since the ancient tomb was built, and the tomb was also collapsed by loess, which can be described as "a long way to go". The only thing that is fortunate is that this tomb has never been excavated, that is to say, even grave robbers have never been here, and the treasures in the tomb should still be there.

Sure enough, archaeologists unearthed a large number of gold and silver utensils, porcelain, jewelry and other items in the tomb, which are priceless. However, among all the treasures, the most precious is the rockhopper worn by the female tomb owner. This is the gorgeous rockhopper in the Tang Dynasty. It is not only inlaid with agate, pearl, amber, turquoise, glass, mother-of-pearl, and almost all the precious stones that may be found in the Tang Dynasty, but also uses gold thread, gold thread and gold beads to outline patterns such as phoenix and lotus, with exquisite and unique shapes.

It is worth mentioning that the diameter of gold beads is between 1 mm and 1.5 mm, so it is difficult to see clearly without the help of a microscope, which shows how exquisite the ancient craftsmanship is. However, even if this rockhopper is extremely luxurious, those parts were scattered in the loess long before the tomb was unearthed, and many inlaid gems fell off. Archaeologists had a great effort to find the farthest one. In order to carry out the restoration work, experts adopted the method of gypsum strengthening the outside and extracting the whole box, and packed the loose part with loess.

The purpose of this is to maintain the relative position between the fallen part and the main body of the rockhopper, which is conducive to the later restoration work. The repair process is very complicated. The restoration teacher should not only draw a circuit diagram from time to time, constantly mark the spatial relationship between the parts, but also carefully compare the gaps surrounded by gold wires and then fill them with chaotic gems, which is enough to be called a labor-intensive job.

At the same time, according to the information provided by the epitaph, the expert determined the identity of the female tomb owner. Originally, the owner's name was Li Shu, the fifth generation descendant of Tang Gaozu Tang Gaozu. Her husband is Xuan Delang and Hou, a bachelor in the museum, equivalent to a university professor today. According to the epitaph, on the seventh day of the first month in 736 AD, Li Shu died at home at the age of 25. In addition, according to the expert's "baby" inference, Li Shu had just given birth to a baby, and she probably died in childbirth.

In order to mourn his dead wife, the husband Hou not only created a unique luxury rockhopper in the world, but also mentioned an epitaph of "the listener is sad, and the listener cries". Whether it is "mourning into one song, moving more and swallowing more" or "human suffering, wild grass, and hatred of Taiwan for thousands of years", it reflects Hou's affection. Probably, Li Xi.
