Shi Tong is China's first monograph on historical criticism. * * * Twenty volumes, divided into internal and external parts. His books can reflect Liu Zhiji's historical view, philosophical thinking and political attitude. The historical achievements of China before the Tang Dynasty were summarized in detail for the first time. Among them, it analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of historiography and its style, criticizes Wu Buxing's concept of equality, and boldly questions the sage classics of traditional Confucianism. He has taken on the responsibility of compiling history many times and is well aware of the disadvantages of the official history bureau. He believes that historians should have three strengths: historical talent, historiography and historical knowledge, with special emphasis on historical knowledge, straight writing and advocating "not hiding evil, not being good". His understanding and thoughts have had a far-reaching impact on the development of historiography later. The words, floating words, narration and simulation in Shi Tong also involve literary theory. He advocates the use of contemporary common language and opposes archaic language and formal simulation. These views inspired and influenced later essayists.
There are three poems in Zhu Ying Ji, while All Tang Wen records Fu and Xiao Zhizhong.
The Book of the New Tang Dynasty and the Book of the Old Tang Dynasty have been handed down to this day.
