How to export exquisite paper inserts with MATLAB?
There is no doubt that one of the essential elements of an excellent paper is exquisite illustrations (only for science and engineering papers, the liberal arts are not clear). Illustrations, also known as the eyes of paper, play the role of finishing touch.

First of all, personal experience, excellent paper illustrations should have the following characteristics.

1. The picture size is reasonable, clear/beautiful; (This is the most important thing! )

2. The coordinate axis has labels and units;

3. There can be no spaces on the X axis and spaces on the Y axis;

4. There are legends and grids;

5. The font size of all Chinese characters, letters and numbers is appropriate, generally equal to or smaller than the text font;

6. The style in the same article should be consistent, for example, the distance from the coordinate axis to the boundary of the picture should be consistent, so that the picture looks neat;

7. Color matching is the crowning touch. (Red with green or something, forget it ...)

A common problem is that the images carefully drawn by MATLAB, saved as pictures and inserted into Word are always unclear and not beautiful enough. This paper introduces how to set the format, size, resolution, etc. There are many drawing skills in the drawings exported by MATLAB, which may not be finished at one time. I will write more later if I have the opportunity. )

It is easy to understand that the resolution of the picture needs to be set, but why does the size of the picture also need to be set? Can you enlarge or reduce the pictures in Word? The derived vector diagram can be enlarged and reduced at will without distortion. This is a common misunderstanding. Scaling a picture in Word will change the font size, line width and the distance between the coordinate axis and the picture boundary, resulting in unclear and unsightly pictures.

For a simple example, the following figure shows the result of saving a picture in jpg format without setting the picture size and setting the resolution to 300dpi. As you can see, the font is too small (although the font is set to 1 1), but because the picture is too big, it must be compressed when inserting text, resulting in a smaller font. )

In the menu bar of the picture, File->; Export settings to set the size and resolution of the picture.

Regarding the size of the picture, the width and height should be calculated. For example, the width of A4 paper is 2 1cm, and if the left and right margins are 2.5cm, then the width of the text is 16cm. If the page is in a single column, it is appropriate to set the width to 14cm and the height to 8.6cm (the golden ratio is 0.6 18). Double columns, 7cm wide and 4.3cm high.

Note: emf files can be opened in Visio and then re-edited after "ungrouping".

This is the last exported picture.
