abstract

The partially reduced Pt/γ-Fe2O3 magnetic nanocomposite catalyst (Pt/γ-Fe2O3-PR) showed excellent catalytic performance in the selective hydrogenation of 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene and iodonitrobenzene. When the substrate was completely transformed, the selectivity to 4- chloro-m-phenylenediamine (4-CPDA), m-iodoaniline (m-IAN) and p-iodoaniline (p-IAN) reached 99.9%, 99.8% and 99.4% respectively. On Pt/ γ-Fe2O3-PR, the hydrodehalogenation of 4-CPDA and IANs was completely inhibited for the first time. It is found that the chemical adsorption of CO on Pt nanoparticles deposited on partially reduced γ-Fe2O3 and Fe3O4 nanoparticles is very weak, which means that the electron feedback trend of Pt nanoparticles to π * antibonding orbitals of adsorbed molecules is very weak. We believe that this is the reason why the Pt/γ-Fe2O3-PR catalyst has higher selectivity for haloaniline in the hydrogenation reaction of interest.
