Nima Tashi has long been engaged in genetic breeding and high-yield and efficient cultivation techniques of highland barley. The breeding objectives of Tibetan highland barley were studied and formulated, and 20 new highland barley varieties were bred, among which "Zangqing 2000" became the main breeding variety of Tibetan highland barley, accounting for more than 50% of the highland barley planting area; In recent five years, a breakthrough new highland barley strain with high yield and lodging resistance has been bred, such as 13-5 17 1-7.

He presided over projects such as transformation demonstration of scientific and technological achievements in planting industry, adjustment of planting structure, crop breeding, highland barley breeding and cultivation, demonstration of agricultural standardization technology and demonstration and popularization of new varieties, screened out new varieties, introduced new technologies, integrated practical technologies, promoted farmers' income and increased agricultural efficiency, and realized double benefits of technological innovation and economy of 100 million yuan.
