Are footnotes and cross-references the same?
Footnotes and endnotes are used to add notes to the selected text, but the notes are displayed in different places. Footnotes are located at the bottom of the page where the selected text is located, while endnotes are located at the end of the whole document.

Cross-reference can be understood as cross-footnotes and endnotes, followed by captions.
