First, the discussion in the narrative
Narrative is a narrative-oriented style, but a good narrative writer often organically combines narrative, discussion and other expressions to complement each other. In general, narratives are discussed first, so that readers can improve their understanding of narratives, deepen the theme and enhance the ideological depth of the article. Of course, sometimes it will be discussed first and then described, so that readers can quickly enter the narrative thinking, and then attract attention to the following. In addition, narrative and discussion are sometimes used.
For example, Bing Xin's Little Orange Lantern tells that I met a little girl twice and went to visit her. The little girl made a little orange lantern to take photos of me going up the mountain. At the end, the author said, "I am walking slowly on the dark and humid mountain road with this clever little orange lamp." This hazy orange light really can't shine far, but the little girl's calm, brave and optimistic spirit inspired me, and I seemed to feel that there was infinite light in front of me! In this way, the author changed from the dim orange light of the little orange lamp to the calm, brave and optimistic spirit of the little girl, thus revealing the profound spirit of what he wrote and further sublimating the theme of the article.
Second, the "argument" in argumentative writing
Arguments in argumentative essays can appear anywhere in the whole article. Arguments in argumentative essays are usually not too lyrical, that is, the author usually expounds an argument objectively and dialectically, but the author will integrate his feelings by expressing his own views during the discussion.
Arguments in argumentative papers should be clear-cut, well-argued, concise in language, reasonable in argument and strict in logic. Persuading people by reasoning is the most basic feature of argumentation in argumentative writing, so there should be a strict thinking process when discussing. Putting forward arguments, arguments and arguments are the ideas of the author when writing argumentative essays, and also the ideas of readers when reading them. A good argumentative essay must have clear views, sufficient arguments and reasonable arguments.
Taking Lu Xun's "takenism" as an example, the full text consists of three parts: the first part exposes and criticizes the essence and serious consequences of "takenism"; The second part expounds the basic viewpoint of "takenism" and criticizes the wrong tendency of treating cultural heritage; The third part points out the courage and quality that people who practice "takenism" should have, and the important significance of "takenism" in creating new national culture. Lu Xun originally wanted to talk about "taking doctrine", but he put forward "sending doctrine" from the beginning. This is because "Farewell Doctrine" is a traitorous act, which will inevitably lead to national weakness and passive beating, and in the long run, it will inevitably lead to national subjugation and extinction. Therefore, it is urgent to adopt the "take-away doctrine" which is tit for tat with the "send-away doctrine". It can be seen that "sending away" and "taking away" are two sides of the same question, and "breaking" is only for "standing", and "breaking" is only firm when it is completely "standing".
Third, the difference between narrative and argumentative arguments.
Narrative focuses on narration, although appropriate arguments are often inserted in narration, in the final analysis, it is mainly narrative, while argumentative writing focuses on discussion, focusing on expressing one's views and opinions on something or someone, and can only be properly demonstrated by examples. There are some differences between narrative and argumentative arguments.
First of all, the purpose is different. The argument in narrative is to reveal the meaning of narrative, point out the main idea of the article and express the author's feelings, so it should be closely related to narrative and targeted. Argumentative writing focuses on argumentation and reasoning, and argumentation is for reasoning, that is, asking questions, analyzing problems and solving problems, so as to show opinions, convince others or refute fallacies.
Second, the status is different. Generally speaking, the arguments in narrative are limited and concise, which is the summary and sublimation of narrative and description and belongs to the "finishing touch". Argumentative essays are basically strung together with arguments. Arguments are used to clarify arguments, and arguments are the center of argumentative writing. Narrative as an argument is to better explain the argument, that is, the argument material used to prove the validity or correctness of the argument.
Again, different places. The discussion in narrative is generally at the end of the article, sometimes interspersed after a narrative, so as to strike while the iron is hot and deepen the reader's understanding. There are few comments at the beginning of the narrative, because the long speech at the beginning of the narrative will make the article look unclear. In addition, the discussion in narrative is sometimes published by a character in the article, and discussion, narrative and lyricism are organically combined. Arguments in argumentative essays can be seen everywhere, and sometimes they can even be inserted into narrative essays, because arguments are the soul of argumentative essays and should run through articles and penetrate everywhere.
Finally, the roles are different. On the basis of "recording facts" (truly and accurately expressing objective people, events, scenes and things), the narration reveals or makes a rational exposition of the essence of things, which is an important means to express and sublimate the theme of the article. Usually, the perceptual knowledge is raised to a rational level in the most straightforward way, making the theme of the article more vivid and profound. Generally speaking, the discussion in narrative has three functions: one is to clarify the meaning of things in narrative and enhance the ideological depth of the article; The second is to express some of the author's views before narration, which will arouse readers' thinking; The third is to make the finishing point and reveal the theme of the article. Arguments in argumentative essays mainly reveal clear and correct arguments directly, and after presenting real and typical argument materials, they are demonstrated by rigorous and meticulous analysis.
