How many references do you need for your undergraduate thesis?
There is no specific requirement for the number of references for undergraduate graduation thesis.

References (tables) should generally be listed after academic papers for three purposes, namely:

1, in order to reflect the real scientific basis;

2, in order to reflect the serious scientific attitude, distinguish their own views or achievements from those of others;

3. In order to show respect for the scientific achievements of predecessors, the source of the cited materials should also be indicated for easy retrieval.

The writing of graduation thesis should be based on a rigorous and realistic scientific attitude. If others' achievements are cited, they should be listed in the references in the order in which they appear in the papers, and only the relevant works and papers cited or referenced in the paper should be listed. References should list the main references directly cited in the order in which they appear in the text.

Extended Information The symposium on the arrangement standard of comprehensive humanities and social sciences academic journals held in Tsinghua University on August 20th, 2007 decided that some journals will implement the new standard "Technical Specification for Citation of Comprehensive Journals" from 2008. This technical specification summarizes the "annotation" style and "author-publication year" style of literature citation.

The word "reference" is no longer used. These two kinds of literature description or citation norms have great influence in China, and the latter is mainly used in higher-level academic journals of humanities and social sciences.

The reference description rule is GB/T 77 14-2005, which is applicable to references catalogued by authors and editors, but not for librarians, cataloguers and index editors.
