Since 1986, he has taught in the Music Literature Teaching and Research Section of the Composition Department of China Conservatory of Music and the National Music Teaching and Research Section of the Music Department.
As a teacher and researcher of "Han Folk Songs" and "Introduction to China Traditional Music Literature", he has rich experience in field investigation of folk songs, such as the investigation of "Ten Tunes" and "Eight Music" in Putian, Fujian, Wudang folk songs, northern Shaanxi folk songs and Beijing suburban folk songs. And encourage students to practice collecting folk songs.
The main papers are Textual Research on Villagers' Songs of Lvjiahe Wudang Folk Songs (China Music, No.4, 2003) and Colorful Folk Songs Transmitting Rich Cultural Information (Xiangba Folk Songs Collection, China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Press, 2003). In addition, the Center for the Development of Folk Literature and Art of the Ministry of Culture contributed Persistence and Flexibility-Talking about the Protection and Development of Folk Songs from the Survival Status (contained in Folk Songs Dialogue, China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Press, 2007), and the column of Folk Songs/China of CCTV Music Channel contributed what a Jasmine (contained in Folk Songs Map, People's Music Publishing House, 2007).
Completed the compilation of the Beijing scientific research project "Tracing the Origin of Han People's Funeral Songs" (2006) and participated in the research project "Revision of China Music Dictionary" (2006) of the Ministry of Culture.
The monograph "Musical Types and Cultural Attributes of Han Folk Ballads" won the second prize of the 12th Outstanding Achievement Award of Philosophy and Social Sciences in Beijing.
