Senior three argumentative paper: ceremony
The original meaning of "etiquette" is social norms and moral standards. Confucius believes that the development of etiquette is both inevitable and necessary. In Confucianism's view, etiquette is the foundation of individual survival. However, it is precisely because of the characteristics of ancient people's self-restraint and restraint of others' behavior and serious hierarchical concept that people changed from obedience to boredom, from boredom to resistance, and finally from resistance to reform.

19 1 1 The Revolution of 1911 opened a new chapter in feudalism and transformation in China. Although the voice of resistance has never stopped, it has almost subverted all the traditional etiquette passed down by the Chinese nation for thousands of years. It was finally accepted, and the progress of people's thoughts also changed the meaning of etiquette.

We have no reason to deny the progress achieved a hundred years ago. Ancient times were full of hierarchical red tape, which should have been eliminated by the times. However, it is precisely because of the progress of the times and frequent exchanges with the world that China people who have accepted the western culture of equality and democracy are ready to move. They strongly advocated western democracy and human rights, which made the traditional etiquette in China gradually disappear. Under the banner of "everyone is equal", don't respect others rudely. Under such ridiculous contradictions, Chinese etiquette is gradually ignored.

It can be said that those who downplay or even despise etiquette may have nothing to do with attitude, but precisely because of their own shallowness. Because they are shallow, they blindly absorb foreign free ideas. Because of their shallowness, their understanding of etiquette only stays on self-restraint, but they misunderstand the fundamental meaning of etiquette.

Ceremony is indeed a kind of binding force and binding force, which we use to regulate social life and our own behavior. It can be said that without ceremony, there are no rules. In addition, the etiquette for elders, others and teachers does not reflect the hierarchy, but only reflects one's own cultivation. Take Japan and South Korea, which are also influenced by Confucian culture, for example, they respect their elders far more than China, and standing up and bowing is something that is repeated every day. Aren't we ashamed to live in the birthplace of Confucianism?

The reason is nothing more than being too self-centered. Historical changes have made China people more and more obsessed with their own interests, and everything is self-centered. On the other hand, ancient philosophers discussed the whole group from a macro perspective and questioned the question of ceremony. Ancient philosophers paid too much attention to groups and neglected individuals. In fact, they regard the individual as a member of the group, realize mutual unity in the development of the group and promote personal development.

It can be seen that China's etiquette culture still has great wisdom except for its hierarchical nature, which needs to be discarded, but its essence is enduring.
