Later, I bought this Zhou Tao prose, which is a collection of essays published together with Lu Xun's prose and Zhu Ziqing's prose. However, "don't borrow or read books" and don't take the time to read them carefully. It was hot these two days, and I stayed at home all day. This book was finally put on my reading schedule.
To be fair, Zhou Tao is not the most beautiful prose writer I have ever read. Although there are many good sentences and philosophies worth recalling, compared with Mr. Zhu Ziqing's unassuming beauty. Compared with Mr. Lu Xun's hard words and sharp words; Compared with Jia Pingwa's complicated folk customs, they all seem slightly inferior, but I still like Zhou Tao's prose very much, with nearly 300 pages and hundreds of works, which I finished in just three days.
Lin Zexu exiled to Xinjiang and wrote so many patriotic poems. Left invaded Xinjiang, leaving so many Left in Xinjiang. Although Zhou Tao was only exiled to Xinjiang with his father, he became a real singer in Xinjiang. Originally from Shanxi, he was born in Beijing as a child. After he was ten years old, he came to Xinjiang with his politically persecuted parents and came to the western border, which was called a wild land and used to be a long-term exile. This is a sad place for him, but when he comes, he will never leave. He especially likes the dry plateau of Xinjiang, the eternal snow-capped mountains, the forehead and folds of Tianshan Mountain. Zhou Tao has deeply integrated his life with this land. Because he loved it here, he put aside the damp heat in the basin and forgot the panoramic view of the plain.
One of the highlights of Zhou Tao's prose is the customs of Xinjiang. The Jimsar Chronicle in my memory was so hard when my parents left, but it was still unforgettable. The little black pig who only quarrels with his master, the naive kitten, the hen who flies into the basket and lays eggs like bullets, and the tenacity of his parents in the face of difficulties ... "Harasal Essays" is Zhou Tao's ode to this small place with Muslims as the main body. Hui people are "Jews" in China. They were chased and fled all the way, but they had to live with dignity wherever they went. The descriptions of several Hui Muslim "masters" are also wonderful. Some are hospitable, while others are not angry, as if they were generals commanding millions of troops and the soul of this nation.
Zhou Tao's prose is tolerant. In his article, there are also ignorance and backwardness in Xinjiang, as well as resentment against unfair treatment. Even in the history of the left-wing war in Xinjiang and the suppression of the uprising of 100,000 Hui people, he had many objections. But all this is based on a deep love for the land that raised you, an objective evaluation and humanitarianism. Therefore, Zhou Tao's prose shows a kind of bearing and profundity that everyone should have.
Many of Zhou Tao's essays are reflections on real life, and I especially admire his courage and boldness in telling the truth. As a military writer destined to be bound by many constraints, it is not easy to tell the truth in today's era! Zhou Tao's Talking about Friendship talks about something that many people dare not say. His works, History with Mountains and Rivers, Trees and Our Life, Should We Go to that Land Often, and Traveler, are full of the author's deep thinking about real life for half his life. As Zhou Tao said: Prose is walking, and walking is the favorite of middle-aged people. When people reach middle age, when they walk, they have reached the age when they can taste life and taste the taste of life through careful chewing.
A good writer must be a person with a conscience. Zhou Tao's articles are full of love. Even in adversity, he loves everything in the world. He sympathized with the fate of the red-billed crow and praised this evil-hating and unyielding raptor. The clever weasel's eyes by the Gongnaisi River are unforgettable. There are also "Watching Birds Outside the Window" and "The Hornet's Nest", all of which are full of awe for life. However, Zhou Tao's articles are also hateful. His nine images of corrupt officials will surely awaken some corrupt officials who have read them from their dreams.
