SCI's partner SSCI (Social Science Citation Index) was also founded by the American Institute of Scientific Information. It is a large-scale retrieval tool, which can be used to analyze the number of social science papers in different countries and regions.
The difference between SCI and SSCI:
1. From the functional point of view, SCI and SSCI are both retrieval tools and databases of academic papers, but SCI is the abbreviation of scientific citation index and SSCI is the abbreviation of social science citation index.
2. As far as content is concerned, SCI mainly includes papers from natural science and technical science, while SSCI mainly includes papers from social science.
3.SCI is essentially a scientific and technological literature retrieval system, while SSCI belongs to a non-profit social group.
