Co-opted academicians are held every two years, and the total number of co-opted academicians does not exceed 60. The allocation of co-opted places in each department shall be determined by the permanent leadership of the Academician Conference according to the discipline layout and the development trend of the discipline. Academician candidates are recommended in the following two ways, and their applications are not accepted.
(1) academicians directly recommend candidates. Each co-election, each academician recommends no more than 2 candidates; Recommended by 3 or more academicians. This paragraph is only applicable to the recommendation of China scholars and experts who live in Hongkong, Macao Special Administrative Region and Taiwan Province Province and in other countries.
(two) the relevant domestic scientific and technological research institutions, institutions of higher learning and the first-level societies affiliated to the China Association for Science and Technology shall recommend candidates according to the organizational system. These candidates must go through the primary election organized by their competent departments, China Association for Science and Technology or provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government.
Foreign standards
Foreign scholars and experts who have made important contributions to China's science and technology and have a high academic status in the world can be recommended to be elected as foreign academicians of China Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as foreign academicians). The election of foreign academicians is held every two years. In each election, each academician recommends 1 candidate, and the recommendation of not less than 5 academicians is valid.
Foreign academicians are elected by all academicians by secret ballot, and the election and co-election of academicians are held in the same year. The number of academicians participating in the voting shall exceed half of the total number of academicians, and the candidate who has obtained the approval vote shall be elected. Foreign academicians have the right to make suggestions on the development of science and technology in China and the work of China Academy of Sciences;
May be invited to participate in relevant conferences and academic activities organized by China Academy of Sciences; Relevant publications provided by China Academy of Sciences can be obtained. Foreign academicians have no right to recommend academicians and candidates for foreign academicians; Do not enjoy the right to vote and stand for election. After obtaining China nationality, foreign academicians can directly become academicians or senior academicians, enjoying the same obligations, rights and related treatment.
