How to write names in English references?
The writing of names in English references follows the following rules:

1, surname comes first: In English literature, people's surnames usually come before their first names, such as "Smith, John".

2. Capitalize the first letter: both the surname and the first name need to be capitalized. For example, "Johnson, Emma"

3. Expression of middle name: If the author has a middle name, it can be expressed in abbreviated form. For example, "Clark Matthew R."

4. Multi-author situation: For multi-authors, different expressions can be adopted according to different citation formats. The common writing method is to list the surnames and initials of all authors, separated by commas, and use the same surname order as other authors' names. For example, "Brown, A., Johnson, M.,&; Judge Smith.

Reference formats are different (such as APA, MLA, Chicago, etc. ) There may be different rules and requirements. Therefore, when writing references, it is best to format and mark them accurately according to the format guide of references used. At the same time, when citing other people's research, we should also ensure that the name is spelled accurately, and give the author's name citation and recognition in appropriate places.

Cite English references

1, direct quotation:

If you need to directly quote other people's original content, you should use double quotation marks around the quoted part, and indicate the author's surname, publication year and quoted page number after the quotation marks. For example: "This is a direct quote." (Smith, 202 1, page 25).

2. Indirect quotation:

If it is rewritten according to the original content of others, the author's surname and publication year should be mentioned in the article, but quotation marks are not needed. For example, according to Smith (202 1), this is a report.

3. Quote the author's ideas or concepts:

When quoting the author's views, theories or concepts, the author's surname and publication year should be mentioned in the article. For example, the concept of self-realization has been widely discussed (Maslow, 1954).

4. Cite multiple authors:

If there are multiple authors in a document, you need to mention the last names of all the authors in the document and use "&". Symbols connect the names of the last two authors. If there are more than three authors in a document, it is represented by the surname of the first author plus "etc.". (Johnson &; Smith, 2020) (Brown, Johnson, Smith et al., 20 19).

We must abide by the principle of academic integrity, quote other people's works appropriately in our own papers or works, and list all the cited documents in the bibliography.
