On the Application of Aromatic Plants in Gardens
Research on the Application of Aromatherapy in Gardens Abstract: To provide theoretical basis for the application of aromatherapy in gardens. On the basis of introducing the definition and development process of aromatherapy, this paper summarizes its research and application status at home and abroad, and points out the limitations that it is only used in industry and service industry at present. It is believed that aromatherapy has the characteristics of reliable curative effect, safety, comfort and no side effects, and has the effects of preventing and treating diseases and optimizing the environment and spirit. The application forms of it in garden green space are put forward, such as "aromatic plant special garden", "night garden", "botanical garden for the blind" and "healthy green space". The problems that should be paid attention to in the application of aromatherapy in gardens were also discussed. Thus, new ideas and methods are put forward for the application of aromatherapy. Key words: aromatic plants; Research; Application; With the development of modern industry, environmental and atmospheric pollution seriously threatens human life and health. Drug-induced diseases caused by toxic side effects of chemical drugs are sometimes more serious than the disease itself. Therefore, researchers in medicine, science and technology and related disciplines have paid great attention to this, and it has become a top priority to seek natural therapy without toxic and side effects. Aromatherapy has attracted people's attention for its unique pharmacological effects and safety. But at present, the research and application of aromatherapy are mainly concentrated in the fields of industry and service industry. This paper provides a theoretical basis for the application of aromatherapy in gardens, and discusses the functions and application forms of aromatherapy. Thus, new ideas and methods are put forward for the application of aromatherapy. 1 the concept and development of aromatherapy 1. 1 the definition and characteristics of aromatherapy were named by the French chemist R.M.Gattefosse in 1928, which refers to the method of treating, relieving and preventing diseases, infections and discomforts by inhaling spices or volatile substances [65438]. Aromatherapy is essentially a physiological and psychological reaction of some isolated components in the volatile aromatic oil of plants after human sense of smell, thus achieving the purpose of disease prevention and health care [2]. This method has the characteristics of reliable curative effect, safety, comfort, comfort and no side effects [3]. 1.2 The development and present situation of aromatherapy has a long history. Studies have shown that the earliest use of aromatherapy was the Egyptians around 3000 BC [2]; Ancient civilizations such as the Middle East, India, Greece and Rome all recorded the use of aromatherapy. During the Renaissance, because of the invention of letterpress printing, the knowledge of aromatherapy and aromatic plants was greatly preserved, such as Solomon's Complete Prescriptions. It is recorded in China that Hua Tuo, a famous doctor in the later Han Dynasty, used cloves to make sachets to treat respiratory tract infections and vomiting and diarrhea. Li Shizhen, a medical scientist in the Ming Dynasty, also listed a variety of aromatic plants with heat-clearing, sterilization and analgesia in Compendium of Materia Medica. As a therapeutic method, aromatherapy was recognized by the society after the French doctor Jean Valnet published aromatherapy in 1964 [2]. He tried to apply essential oil to patients and proved its effect, which greatly promoted the wide use of aromatherapy. Subsequently, aromatherapy prevailed in European countries such as Britain and France. In France, Japan, Germany and other countries, "Flower Hospital" has been opened, which has cured many patients with cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, tracheitis, asthma, neurasthenia, insomnia and so on, especially in the treatment of nervous system and respiratory system diseases. For many years, the research on aromatherapy at home and abroad has mainly focused on the extraction process and chemical composition analysis of aromatic oil, and its application is mainly limited to medicine, beauty, cosmetics, catering, cigarette manufacturing and other industries and services. The efficacy of aromatherapy. 1 aromatherapy has the function of treating diseases: ① it can regulate nerves and body fluids accordingly, and promote the corresponding organs of human body to secrete healthy hormones and body fluid releasing enzymes, acetyl, gallbladder and other physiologically active substances. And improve the nervous system and secretory system of human body, so as to coordinate the functions of various organs in the whole body. ② The volatile oils of many aromatic plants have their own pharmacological effects. It has been proved that aromatic oil molecules have the same exact effects as pharmacologically active substances, can be absorbed by human body and transferred to blood, and have significant effects on human body [1]. The results show that aromatic oil has the following pharmacological effects: antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic, such as osmanthus fragrans and lilac. Crane lice, lavender, perilla. Agut and Rosa Ban Kexi. Antipyretic and analgesic effects, such as jasmine; Sedative effects, such as geranium, lavender and mint; Expectorant and antitussive effects, such as mint; Antitumor effect, such as geranium [5]. 2. Optimize the environment. 2. 1 Volatiles in air purification aromatherapy can destroy surrounding microorganisms, such as benzyl alcohol, linalool, citronellol and tyrosol. , can kill many harmful microorganisms. Some substances have strong sterilization and disinfection effects, which are stronger than formalin and ultraviolet rays. They are green and pollution-free natural fungicides. For example, the gas secreted by Mirabilis jalapa can kill diphtheria, tuberculosis and dysentery bacilli in only 5s [6]; A variety of volatiles also have the ability to kill or inhibit bacteria and influenza viruses. At the same time, aromatic plants can reduce toxic and harmful gases and absorb dust, so that the air can be purified. For example, Milan can absorb SO2 in the air, osmanthus fragrans and Chimonanthus praecox can absorb mercury vapor, clove, mirabilis jalapa and Michelia can absorb one or more of SO2, HF and Cl2, and can absorb photochemical smog and Cl2. 2.2.2 Volatiles in the aroma that attracts bees (birds) and butterflies can attract insects such as butterflies to collect pollen, while the fruits of some aromatic plants can attract many birds, which can achieve the ideal flower-and-bird landscape effect. 2.2.3 Mosquito repellent and fly repellent Some special volatiles can make mosquitoes, flies and insects escape far away, and become efficient, broad-spectrum, non-toxic, pollution-free and residue-free natural mosquito repellent (insect repellent) spirits, such as mint, basil, fennel, lavender and vanilla. 2.3 the role in the spirit of medical practice has proved that the smell has a close relationship with people's emotions, and aromatic substances have psychological effects on people, showing regularity, so they have certain therapeutic effects and practical values. Elegant aroma, refreshing, refreshing, can improve the excitability of nerve cells, give people a pleasant feeling, improve mood, eliminate fatigue, thus regulating the immune system. For example, the fragrance of daffodils contains benzyl ester and other ingredients. When people feel tired, they immediately feel clear-headed; Jasmine fragrance can stimulate the brain, and its excitement is stronger than coffee; The fragrance of geranium has the functions of calming the nerves, eliminating fatigue and hypnosis; However, inhalation of lavender oil will have the sedative effect of taking diazepam; The fragrance of osmanthus fragrans has the function of relieving depression and avoiding filth, and has certain curative effect on some manic mental patients [2]. 3 Application of Aromatherapy in Gardens At present, aromatherapy is mostly used in specialized hospitals (or health care places) and cosmetics industry at home and abroad. However, the aromatic plant resources in China are extremely rich, but they are rarely used in gardens. The author thinks that aromatherapy can be extended to garden green space, which can not only improve the urban and rural environment, but also make ordinary people care for health and cure diseases. The application forms and matters needing attention of aromatherapy in gardens are discussed below. 3. 1 Application Form of Aromatherapy in Gardens ① Specialized Garden of Aromatic Plants. The "Aromatic Plants Sightseeing Garden" will be rich in aromatic plants and other garden design elements, and provide services such as viewing, eating, drinking tea, beauty, bathing and massage, so that it has the functions of production, tourism, service and leisure. On the ground, choose aromatic plants with fragrant smell, beautiful posture or beautiful flower shape. Adopt the principle of planting trees, shrubs, vines and herbs together to form a three-dimensional ornamental effect. At the same time, combined with a certain proportion of evergreen plants, considering the climate, seasonal phenomena and other conditions in a unified way, we can realize that there are flowers in three seasons, scenery in four seasons and fragrance every day, and introduce the popular science knowledge of aromatherapy and aromatic plants to tourists through publicity columns and plant listing. By configuring aromatic plants that can be eaten as vegetables or fruits, tourists can participate in picking and harvesting. By setting up tea houses, beauty salons, baths and other facilities, we can make use of the products deeply processed by aromatic plants. Teahouses can provide tourists with fragrant teas, such as jasmine tea, osmanthus tea, gardenia tea, smiling tea, rose tea and honeysuckle tea. Beauty salons can massage and beautify their guests with aromatic oil; Bath can be used for aromatic bathing, that is, bathing with roots, stems and leaves of aromatic plants, which can clean the body, moisturize the skin, eliminate muscle soreness, calm nerves and promote blood circulation. Plants that can be used include rosemary of-fictionalis, mint, Rosa rugosa, etc. ② Plant healthy green space. The purpose of plant health green space is to use the volatile aroma of aromatic plants to make them enter the peripheral organs with the inhalation of patients. Through contact with lung tissue, it is beneficial to the treatment of respiratory diseases and the absorption of drugs through the lungs, and enhances the systemic effect of drugs. In the process of seeking medical treatment, it avoids the hospital consultation room full of medicine, which can eliminate the psychological obstacles of patients, and because patients are in pleasant garden space, they can directly feel the warm breath of nature. This dual function, which is good for both body and mind, is conducive to the recovery of the sick body. Plant health green space can also provide high-quality air fitness activities for healthy tourists. In the fragrance of nature, relax your nerves and reflect on your relationship with nature, so as to achieve physical and mental harmony and health. Pleasant fragrance can make people feel comfortable, eliminate fatigue and improve the body's natural immunity, which is undoubtedly a good way to relieve stress for urbanites with tight pace of life. Botanical gardens, comprehensive parks, forest parks, agricultural sightseeing parks and sanatoriums are equipped with plant health care areas (corners); In residential areas, nursing homes, mental hospitals, labor camps, work-study schools and other units attached to the green space, appropriate arrangements for plant health green space. The aromatic plants selected are mainly for sterilization, disease prevention, appreciation and appreciation. (3) Green space for the blind. People usually get the most information through vision, but the blind have lost this important means of obtaining external information. In today's "people-oriented" design world, we should give them enough care. Studies have proved that the loss of vision makes other organs develop more than normal people, especially the sense of smell and hearing. Therefore, aromatic plants show great advantages in green spaces like the Botanical Garden for the Blind. The fragrance of flowers, fruits, branches and leaves of plants makes the blind have a partial understanding of the plant world, and at the same time, they are intoxicated in the world of fragrance, feeling comfortable and preventing and treating diseases. 4 "Night Garden". With the development of economy, people's cultural life has become increasingly rich, and night garden has gradually become people's favorite garden form because of its tranquility, mystery and romance. Especially in the hot summer, the night garden has become a good place for people to enjoy the cool and enjoy the scenery. At this time, the amount of information obtained by human vision has obviously decreased. Therefore, aromatic plants also have broad application prospects in "night garden". Aromatic plants used in "night garden" should meet one of the following conditions: species that only bloom at night, such as evening primrose, evening primrose, cordate telosma, marigold, Hosta, etc.; Species that can bloom at night, such as osmanthus, gardenia and lilac. Crane lice, Michelia, Daphne odora; Types of mosquito repellent and fly repellent; White series flowers and yellow series flowers have strong brightness and lightness. 3.2 Matters needing attention in the application of aromatherapy in gardens ① Comprehensive application of human five senses. When applying aromatherapy in gardens, we should make full use of other senses, such as vision-viewing natural scenery or curative color, hearing-listening to curative music, taste-tasting herbal tea, touch-bathing, adjust human functions in many ways and restore health as soon as possible. (2) Aroma characteristics should be suitable for the function and utilization of people in the region. In the "noisy" activity area, we should choose jasmine, lily brown and other exciting varieties. In the "quiet" rest area, you should choose lavender, daffodils, violets and other refreshing varieties. Different people's reactions to fragrance are also very different. For example, teenagers before 15 like mint; Heart patients will have a headache when they smell the fragrance of cordate telosma; Allergic people are afraid of smelling Artemisia. ③ Control of aroma concentration. The aroma is volatile outdoors, and it must be enclosed by terrain, buildings and plants to maintain a certain concentration. At the same time, we should pay attention to the main wind direction of the aromatic season where the aromatic plants are located, and the aromatic plants should be arranged in the upwind direction of the users. ④ Planting forms of aromatic plants. It should be mainly in the form of group planting and chip planting. Large-scale planting can form a magnificent natural landscape, provide enough fragrance and give full play to its group beauty. But it doesn't have to be in rows and columns, it needs to be dense, and it needs a combination of trees, shrubs, vines and grass. References: [1] gerhardt Buchbauer, author. Li Hong, translated.
