Cosmetics are a double-edged sword.

Some experts say that cosmetics are actually a double-edged sword, which destroys the skin at the same time, because cosmetics are chemically synthesized after all, which will have adverse effects on the skin in the long run, and the more complex the ingredients, the more unsuitable the skin is. There are about 7000 kinds of chemicals in the world as raw materials of cosmetics, which are mixed into various cosmetics in different proportions. At present, cosmetics sold in the market basically include oil, surfactant (also called emulsifier), antiseptic and bactericide, antioxidant, pigment, perfume and so on. Some cosmetics with special functions must also be added with humectants, tackifiers, astringents, antioxidants, bleaches, ultraviolet absorbers and so on. Most of these raw materials are chemicals, and some of them will cause acute and chronic harm to human body. The most common chemical poisons in inferior cosmetics are mercury, lead, arsenic, methanol and estrogen. The most dangerous raw materials leading to skin dysfunction are spices, followed by pigments and antiseptic fungicides, which are called "three evils" of cosmetics, and almost all cosmetics on the market contain these three ingredients. For example:

Double-edged sword whitening products:

The action mechanism of various acidic whitening ingredients such as fruit acid is to remove the old dead skin on the skin surface, and the second skin is naturally smooth and tender. But if it is stimulated for a long time, it will cause melanin to rebound, while in middle-aged and elderly people, the skin will become rough and spotted. Whitening products using vitamin C, although vitamin C can resist oxidation, have strong reducibility and will be destroyed by oxidation when exposed to air. In order to prevent this, vitamin C complex is often used now, although it is not easy to be oxidized, but the whitening effect is not as good as vitamin C.

Natural cosmetics are a double-edged sword;

Even natural cosmetics, using natural plants, still need to add some chemicals such as preservatives to ensure the quality. Moreover, natural plants can also cause allergies. In addition, if cosmetics do not contain preservatives, they are very easy to deteriorate during use. Once the skin uses these deteriorated natural cosmetics for a long time, it will appear allergic phenomena such as inflammation, redness and swelling. Therefore, Professor Jin believes that cosmetics should not be overused and used as little as possible.

Some cosmetics, which emphasize that they contain no preservatives, flavors and pigments and are made of pure natural substances, are very popular now and are favored by many people who care about health. Is it possible to effectively avoid chemical damage by using natural cosmetics?

Skin pain caused by cosmetics

I don't know. In the next few decades, I often suffer a lot because I don't know my own situation and products.

Symptoms 1. Itching dermatitis

It is the most common cosmetic dermatitis, and its symptoms are sudden itching, burning or ant crawling on the facial skin, especially on the cheeks and forehead, but the rash is not obvious. Stop using cosmetics that cause diseases and the symptoms will disappear. In severe cases, a large area of erythema, papules, maculopapules and water marks may appear, and edema may appear on the upper and lower eyelids, and even the eyes can't be opened. Some parts may be itchy, hot and swollen, and there may be pain when erosion occurs.

Symptom 2. Pigmented dermatitis

Skin in contact with cosmetics has flaky or diffuse light brown, dark brown or reddish brown pigmentation spots. At first, its edge was not obvious, and its color was lighter. With the recurrence of the disease and the passage of time, the edge becomes clear and the pigment deepens. Some pigments may be reticulate or have staggered telangiectasia, sometimes the skin is dry and may be accompanied by desquamation.

Symptom three. Cosmetic photosensitive dermatitis

Changes of skin inflammation caused by light after using cosmetics. It is a phototoxic reaction or phototoxic reaction of skin mucosa caused by photosensitive substances in cosmetics. Photosensitive substances in cosmetics exist in preservatives, dyes, spices and fluorescent substances in lipstick, and sunscreen agents and their lipid compounds in sunscreen cosmetics may also cause photosensitive dermatitis.

Symptom 4. acne induced by cosmetics

The disease is an inflammatory reaction of the face and neck caused by the use of cosmetics, which is often manifested as redness, blisters and bullae, accompanied by itching and burning sensation to a certain extent. The causes of cosmetic macula are as follows: first, users are allergic, and cosmetic macula will appear when the skin comes into contact with cosmetics; The second is the deterioration of cosmetics, which is an important cause of skin allergies.

Measures to reduce appearance damage

1. Check the label and production date of cosmetics carefully. Including: product performance, name, use method, product inspection certificate, production date, effective use period, matters needing attention in use, manufacturer, production license, special purpose approval number, etc. With the above guarantee, we must choose the one closest to the production date.

2. Learn to identify inferior cosmetics. When buying cosmetics, we should not only look at the appearance, but also look at the content and the quality of cosmetics. If it expires, there will be some changes, such as the color of cosmetics changing from the original normal color to black, yellow and brown; Different colors and mildew spots appear on the surface of cosmetics; Cosmetics thinning, surface water and so on.

3. Skin patch test can be done before use. After washing your face, you can choose to try it for a week behind your ears or on sensitive parts such as the back of your hand. If erythema, papules and blisters appear, stop using cosmetics immediately.

4. Make-up should also have "Sunday". The skin that can't get rest is more hurt, so it should be given a certain rest time. Don't put on makeup until you go out. Apply a little nourishing cream to nourish your skin.

5. Don't use multiple cosmetics on your face, and don't use more than three products at the same time.

Harmful ingredients in common cosmetics

Neodymium: A metallic element, which is a rare earth metal. Pale yellow, easily oxidized in air, used to make alloys and optical glasses. Neodymium is very irritating to eyes and mucous membranes, and moderately irritating to skin. Inhalation can also lead to pulmonary embolism and liver injury.

Chromium: metallic element, silvery gray, hard and brittle, corrosion resistant. Used for special steel, etc. Plating on other metals can prevent rust. Also known as Cromy Chromium is a kind of skin allergen, which can cause allergic dermatitis or eczema with a long course.

Mercury: the component contained in freckle removing products. The accumulation of mercury in human body is easy to cause mercury poisoning, leading to insomnia, fatigue, poor memory and obvious mood changes.

Cadmium: an ingredient contained in lipstick. It is a carcinogen, which can damage people's liver, kidneys and bones.

Lead: the ingredient contained in lipstick. Chronic lead poisoning can cause anemia, damage human liver, kidneys and bones, and cause neurasthenia, constipation and loss of appetite.

O-phenylenediamine: commonly found in nail polish. Interfering with endocrine will reduce the quantity and quality of male sperm, seriously lead to testicular cancer, increase the probability of female breast cancer, and endanger the reproductive system of their future boys.

Sudan 3: in cosmetics such as lipstick. Irritating to the skin, causing eczema, hay fever, asthma and other allergies; Irritation to the mucous membranes of eyes, mouth, nose and lips can lead to inflammation.

Plasticizer: common in nail polish. Destroy human hormones, affect reproductive health and even cause cancer.

Tip: Test whether cosmetics are allergic.

Soak a piece of cloth in distilled water or physiological saline, twist it to half dry, and fold it into four layers. The square size is about 1 cm. Apply cosmetics to one side of the cloth, then apply it to the normal skin on the inside of forearm or back, then cover it with airtight cellophane or plastic film and fix it with adhesive tape. After 24 ~ 48 hours of observation, if there are no symptoms in the test site, it shows that the cosmetic is non-irritating to the skin and relatively safe. If the test site is itchy or burning, it means that the cosmetic is irritating to the skin, suggesting that the cosmetic must not be used. The test substance should be taken out in time and rinsed with clean water.
