Fabian
Rating: 8.4
Berlin 193 1. In an environment between subletting and underworld, brothels are artists' studios, and Nazis abuse them in the street. Babeur's Fort dreams of making "psychological movies". Life is surging, society is fermenting and corroding. Jacob Fabian, who holds a doctorate in German studies, writes advertisements during the day as long as he has a job.
In the evening, Stephen Rab and I often go to those ridiculous places in the city. His friend-who later admitted that he had failed "in the theme of life and career"-was an enterprising person in materialism and sex, while Fabian remained awake and alienated. He was waiting for a "decent victory", but he didn't really believe it. His love for cornelia is the only thing that makes him question his ironic fatalism.
She became a ray of hope in his collapsed life. Although there are many similarities with today's criticized world, it is a challenge to make Erich Kstner's Fabian, a deeply sad autobiographical novel, live in out of the dark. Dominik Graf responded to this challenge brilliantly. His style is subtle and sharp, cold-blooded and light, but quiet and melancholy. This movie is like a disco ball spinning slowly, telling the connection between sex and empty refrigerator, and the disillusionment of a happy dream.

Holiday after the sun
Score: 8. 1
This film is the first film by Scottish-born new york writer and director Charlotte Wells. Set at the end of 1990, the story tells the story of a curious1/kloc-0-year-old girl Sophie (Frankie Corio) and her young single father (Paul Mesca). The two went to Turkey for a holiday together.
The trivial things that happened there seem unremarkable, but those fleeting conversations, spoken and unspoken, depict the feelings of parents and children and reveal how the two sides became each other's rocks unconsciously. Twenty years later, when Sophie grew up to her father's age, she was traveling, and she recalled the summer when she was 1 1. In the memory space of real images and imagination, the familiar and intimate father gradually revealed the sadness that he had never shown to his daughter in the past.
