Abstract: Modern graphic design is changing with each passing day. With the development and utilization of new ideas, new concepts, new technologies, new media and new materials, the forms of expression are becoming more and more complicated. In order to make graphic design a blockbuster, designers have to rack their brains every day and try their best to find the most suitable point to make their designs stand out. This is the best creative breakthrough. This paper takes the path and means of creative breakthrough as the main analysis object, and briefly discusses my views.

Graphic design focuses on the "things" of design, while visual communication design focuses on designing for "people". Strictly speaking, graphic design is slightly narrower than visual communication design. Visual communication design includes not only two-dimensional space design, but also three-dimensional space display design, which includes not only things and people, but also places and times. So graphic design and visual communication design can't be equated.
