1 direct reference
If you need to quote an author's original content, remember to put quotation marks in the quotation part, and indicate the author's name, publication year and page number (if any). For example, "According to Smith (20 10),' quote here' (page 45)".
2 Indirect citation
When you want to quote an author's opinion or summary, but don't quote the original text directly, you can use indirect speech. In this case, only the author's name and publication year are required. For example, "Smith (20 10) thinks that ...".
More than 3 authors
When there is more than one author, the names of other authors can be replaced by et al., but the names of all authors still need to be listed in the bibliography. For example, "Johnson et al. (20 15) found that ...".
Many articles by the same author
If the same author has published many articles in different years, it can be distinguished by the year of publication. For example, "Smith (20 10) discovered …" or "Smith (20 12) thought …".
5 list of references
Don't forget to list all the cited references at the end of the paper. According to the reference format (such as APA, MLA, etc. ), the author's name, publication year, article title, journal name or title, page number and other information are listed in a specific format.
Matters needing attention in citing references
When quoting references, ensure that each source is accurately marked and quoted, and follow the provisions of the selected citation format. This not only helps to maintain the academic integrity of the paper, but also helps readers to easily find the original source of your citation!
